For starters I've realised how long the titles are going to be for this competition so I can only apologise in advance.
I have just done the draw for the competition and I can confirm that I seeded the top eight nominated couples so they can not meet until Round Three of the competition, and as a result there will be one of the top eight nominated couples in every day of Round One.
If you're really interested in who your couple is up against in Round One then feel free to post the question in the comments and if I get the time I'll let you know...

An interesting statistic is that only one set of couples from the same show have been randomly drawn together in Round One, and that show is 'Gossip Girl.' So fans of that show will already have to make a tough decision in a few days time.

ReplyDeleteI didn't really mind Jack and Kate as a couple but never enjoyed seeing them together as much as Ross&Rachel.
The LOST couple was Sawyer & Kate. Even if they didn't end together in the very end (although they left the island alive without their respective soulmates).

ReplyDeleteRoss and Rachel I adored, Jack and Kate bored me to tears so that was easy. Kate and Swayer will be the ones getting my vote. Penny and Desmond were cute and since I've never watched the OC I went with them.

ReplyDeleteI can't vote for a couple that didn't work out...and as much as I liked friends at times, it's all Lost today. Considering my dog is named Penny and I've sold my wife that if we have a son one day we're naming it Desmond...well, do I need to say more?

ReplyDeleteas far as the relationship side of Lost goes it WAS jack and kate, if you prefer other couples then whatever it doesnt change the fact that jack and kate were the "ross and rachel" of the show and were seen as much as much by the writers (u know those guys who actually TOLD the story) so think whatever u want thats cause how it happened on this show and im sure the writers and myself couldnt care less if you thought otherwise doesnt change the fact that thats what it was ; )
ReplyDeleteAgreed. IF you liked Sawyer and Kate, that's fine (and everyone has the right to their opinion), but Jack and Kate were the real couple. Sawyer and Kate was a fling ultimately. Either way, I like them better than Ross and Rachel, from what I remember, they started to annoy me and I liked Chandler's relationship better.

ReplyDeleteI had to give my vote to Jack/Kate, because I loved them and felt so relieved when they ended up together - but it was a really, really tough choice. I mean it's Ross and Rachel! Lobsters! They are like the couple that defined shipping! Honestly, I'm shocked, just SHOCKED. :P

In the second poll I voted Seth/Summer but I wasn't particularly bothered either way. Desmond/Penny was epic so I don't mind it winning :)
I respectfully disagree. :) It's funny in shipping how both sides can be so convinced of the pairing they support... I always found that fascinating in regards to love triangles in fiction. I mean look at the whole Twilight craziness!

ReplyDeleteFair enough, and I agree Desmond Christopher has a nice ring to it. But then again anything with Desmond sounds good, lets just hope he doesn't have to go through what Desmond David had to go through.
ReplyDeleteI think that even if two characters were supposed to end up together there's always a chance that when you get the actors together it doesn't work. Sometimes, and in my opinion that's what happened in LOST, you have such an evident, amazing chemistry between two others that I would just throw all original plans out the window and go with what is right in front of me. So even if there are two characters that were "supposed" to be together and be "the couple" it doesn't have to be that way.

ReplyDeleteI'll still vote Mulder and Scully, the couple that defined shipping, over anyone in this competition...if it somehow managed to be Desmond/Penny versus Mulder and Scully, however, I may have a hard time since I love Des and Penny.

des and penny was easy b/c they were one of my fave coupls from lost and i never watched the OC

ReplyDeleteI clicked on Jack and Kate out of habit for voting for LOST in anything and everything over the years. But now I'm regretting my decision because Ross and Rachael, love them or hate them, are the most iconic TV couple of the past two decades.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the second vote is easy. Des and Penny were as close as any couple will ever come to bringing out my inner shipper (with the possible exception of Mulder and Scully ;-) ).
Amen. Seriously. No disrespect to Jack/Kate fans either, but Sawyer and Kate lit up the screen each and every time for me. (Until Kate got totally destroyed being the love pawn and then Sawyer/Juliet came along). I tried SO HARD to root for Jack and Kate, but I just wasn't feeling it!!! I tried though!!!
ReplyDeleteAre Mulder and Scully eliminated??!!! I didn't vote in this round, but I am shocked if they got eliminated. They are just as definitive as Ross and Rachel, even though Friends makes me nauseated.

ReplyDeleteBoth Jack and Kate AND Sawyer and Kate had great chemistry, testament to truly great acting and writing, However Jack and Kate were meant to be together one way or another, it was the only way it would and could have gone.
ReplyDeletematt&evie also had an amazing chemistry! it was just different. sawyer&kate were more sexy and fun. kate&jack were more romantic and careful. I loved the scenes when just one look, one small touch was enough for the sparks to go crazy between those two. i just really loved that tension. they where so so tender and full of want. I liked both couples. but when you look at it as a whole swayer&kate were never meant to end up together. a fling. a fun one, yes, but just a fling. when you watched the last episode you know that jack&kate and juliet&sawyer were meant to be.
