"DEXTER" CLOSES IN ON COLIN HANKS FOR SEASON 6

LOS ANGELES, CA - May 10, 2011 - Actor Colin Hanks has joined the cast of SHOWTIME's Emmy(R) nominated drama series DEXTER(TM) for Season 6. Hanks, who will appear in all twelve episodes, will play Travis, a highly intelligent young expert on ancient artifacts who gets linked to a series of grisly murders in Miami. Production on begins in June in Los Angeles and will premiere on SHOWTIME this fall.

Colin Hanks has quickly become one of Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. Hanks appeared in Oliver Stone's biopic W, in the ensemble comedy The House Bunny starring opposite Anna Faris, and the Diane Lane thriller Untraceable. Additional film credits include The Great Buck Howard, King Kong, Orange County, Get Over It and the independent films Alone With Her, Standing Still, Rx, 11:14, and Whatever It Takes. On television, Hanks starred in Steven Spielberg's award-winning 10-part miniseries Band of Brothers and guest-starred as Father Gill in the award-winning drama series Mad Men.

One of the most acclaimed series on television, DEXTER stars Michael C. Hall (Golden Globe(R) and SAG Award winner) as a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department who moonlights as a serial killer. The show has received both multiple Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) nomination for best television drama series as well as a prestigious Peabody Award in 2008 and was twice named one of AFI's top ten television series. The show also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.

  1. Should be very interesting to see him playing a bad guy for a change.

  2. It's funny that everyone says Colin Hanks always plays the good guy because actually he starred in a show called The Good Guys, last year.

I have never seen any of his work, except King Kong, and I don't really remember his roles in Band of Brothers and Mad Men, so I have no bias regarding him.

But when I look at one of his pictures on IMDB, I say he can definitely play a creepy guy.

  3. It's not just that, but he is kind of typecast in those roles, at least pretty much every time I saw him. Not just in The Good Guys, but also in The Great Buck Howard and Band of Brothers and 2 other roles I just can't remember. maybe he also played creepy dudes, but I haven't seen him in those roles.

  5. Can't say I haven't. And from your assessment it doesn't sound like worth checking out.

  6. Creepy guy in a random crappy movie is not the same as having a big role in a worldwide tv-show like Dexter. You cant compare beeing a creepy guy to a badguy in a television show like Dexter.

  7. I was responding to him only being typecast in certain roles. Nothing to do with differences that movie and TV show. He also kills someone in it. Crappy movie aside, his performance was pretty good and believable.

  8. "
a highly intelligent young expert on ancient artifacts"
Damn. I guess he's not there to bust some punks but that's okay I suppose.

FYI, just because Colin Hanks has signed on for the season doesn't mean you should assume he's going to play a criminal.
