Possibly the most surprising news of the day, according to Deadline the CW is picking up CBS's Ringer with Sarah Michele Geller

Ringer is a drama about a troubled young woman who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister until she learns that her twin's life has a bounty on it as well

  1. CW and not CBS I'm confused? Aren't they totally different networks?

  2.  technically CW is owned by CBS but this is very shocking

  3. I didn't realise that. I'm actually a bit disappointed, I was really looking forward to the show and cast and it doesn't seem like a good for CW they can't market it at the teens. Probably just my anti-CW bias, I hope they don't try to appeal to the youth or some rubbish

  4.  I never knew that :o
Guess you learn something new everyday :)

  6.  They also own Showtime :)

  7. Yes! I love SMG and will watch even though this doesn't sound all that great.

  8.  I was all YES YES YES and then I read CW and I was all WTF. CW seems to have some good taste lately (with TVD and Nikita, and now this). Hope they don't mess with it too much.

Wow, maybe this is CW's rise from mediocrity. I think maybe this has to do with Mark Pedowitz, the new president? Wasn't he responsible for some of ABC's greatest successes?

  11.  SMG back on CW which was WB.  It just makes sense to me. I still don't  know how  I feel about the premise, but I wanted to watch a few episodes and I am glad it was picked up somewhere!

Question: How does this count on the pilot pickup contest? IF we voted yes that CBS would pick this up do we get full credit , partial credit or none?  I  call it a push! Ha!

  12. I knew that CBS owns CW but never knew that they also own SHOWTIME. This is a big surprise for me. That's why both channel's series are the best ones :)

  13. New Boss, means new CW. 2012-2013 CW will look very different to the one we saw this season and we will see next season. Ostroff tried to make the CW the Lifetime network for 18-34 women and  failed.

  14. I haven't really been following this pilot, but I'll prorobly give it a go. Sounds not too bad...

  15. Yeah ! Sarah Michelle Gellar ! Excellent news !

I was so pissed her HBO family drama
(The Wonderful Maladys) didn't pan out 2 years ago, I'm glad we'll be
able to see her again in something potentially good (her movie career do
not exactly contain many great movies)

Thank you, CBS, for recognizing a show just isn't for you and yet make it happen by shopping it to an affiliate :). And thank you Mark Pedowitz (new CEO of the CW).

With a synopsis like that, I would have prefered this show to go on
Showtime instead of the CW but whatever, as long as it exists.

I hope the CW won't try to mess with the show too much, by trying to appeal teenagers, make it too girly, add 'cool' music and include love triangles or impossible romances.

  16.  Well, yeah?I hope they will treat it right.

  17.  Now Disney dropped :S

CW is a better home for this project, but I don't know if Sarah will be happy with this change... Potential audience (not just for ratings, but for prestige and recognition) is not the same on both networks.

  18. yeah but CBS would have cancelled this in 2 episodes , on CW it will probably last they dont cancel as much

  19.  First sign that the "new" CW is trying to get back to its WB roots with great actors and shows that try to attract more than the 12-24 women market share. :)

  20. This should tell everyone something, which is that The CW's pilots (besides Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie) were so weak that the network grabbed someone else's project.

Since Ringer was conceived as a "big 4" network show I really hope The CW gives this show an appropriate budget so it can be produced properly.

  21. Oh, by the way...

How the hell is this going to be reflected on my pilot competition scorecard!?  XD

(I chose Ringer as a pick-up, but not for The CW!)  Ah.  This is unexpected and hilarious.

  22. I'll try it cause I'm crazy ahahha but i dont like SMG that much, even if BUFFY ROCKS!

  23. This show sounds better than any of the other CW pilot descriptions.  I'll give it a shot.

  24.  It's either this, or it isn't picked up.

  25.  That is good news! It looks like a good show and to have SMG is an amazing actress!

  26. The CW has some good shows on its hands if people would just give them a chance, like TVD, Nikita, and Supernatural. Ringer is a step in the right direction. Hopefully with a new executive in charge of the network, we'll see more positive changes in the years to come.
