Hopefully, once again, Save One Show can show NBC how much the fanbase loves the show. It may not show in the ratings but Chuck fans are REEEALLY devoted to the show.
I know I'll probably get bashed, but from my perspective, Chuck has lost its groove creatively and never really maintained momentum from previous years. If I were NBC, I wouldn't see the point of renewing this show, given how low its ratings are and how fast they're declining. Although as a former uber fan of the show, I understand that many will stay dedicated for a long time if it came back next year.
A full S5 pickup would bring Chuck to 100 episodes which means it would be available for syndication. NBC has renewed Chuck when it made no sense to renew it but now that it does I have a feeling they'll axe it.
I think Chuck lost some of its magic in S4 but I am hoping that, if they do get renewed, they will learn from some of their creative mistakes this season.
I agree. I think the fact that NBC's other shows are doing awful and Chuck has proven loyal fans will be the ultimate push...though they may be running out of time and need to finish it in Season 5.
I don't think Chuck lost its groove, I think they rather took it in a different way and made it, well, special. I think the groove is still there as long as the main trio and Morgan are there. This season the antagonist was more of a personal deal, as Chuck's mom lived with the antagonist for 20 years. So rather than facing a faceless organization, they faced a family destroyer.
I love the show and being from the Uk, I'd say most people I know watch it, download it and besides if we waited for it to air over here, those ratings make no difference to it staying. The old system of doing ratings isnt working, it hasnt worked in years cuz it doesnt count dvr, tivo, sky+, internet, downloads, even mobile phones etc The time of schedules has gone, people choose when they want to watch something now, when will the stupid tv studios realise this. A whole new method needs to come into play asap b4 more shows get canned. I'm pretty sure Heroes, 24, scrubs, my name is earl, invasion, firefly could have lasted longer. I dont know anyone who watches scheduled tv anymore, not even my parents with all their soaps, even the talent shows, record them, fast forward through all the Ads and the boring bits.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I think Yes. Because even though Chuck isn't doing very well, most of NBC's other shows are doing worse.

ReplyDeleteA full season five pickup would actually make sense so I have to vote 'no'.
ReplyDeletecan we have a hopefully button! :)
ReplyDeletehuh??

ReplyDeletei hope the show deserves this.

ReplyDeleteoh right. haha get you now. lol sorry have been studying all day and my head is
ReplyDeletenot with it. :) Thanks for the explanation. :D
The show is going to get renewed for the same reason it has been renewed since 2008 :
ReplyDelete- NBC is falling apart.
- Chuck has a fairly solid fanbase.
- It's strategically better to renew a show with several seasons than a new show.
- Chuck is doing better than The Event and LOLA on the 18/49 demo, and as much as Harry's Law (1.7 in February/March).
- A 5th season of 22 episodes could get Chuck to a 100 episodes (= syndication/extra money ?).
- The last episode is called Chuck vs. the Cliffhanger. You don't want to mess with Chuck fans if there's no proper ending to the show.
NBC should announce they renew Chuck for a final 22-episode season and then everyone's happy.

ReplyDeleteChuck did lose its groove in Season 4, but as a fan, I say it deserves another season pick-up. So yeah, go for Season 5.
ReplyDeleteif nbc cancel chuck i will put a bomb on the 30 rock center HAHAHAHAHAAHA LOL, but will be sad live without chuck

ReplyDeleteIt's not looking good ratings wise but I REALLY hope so. Just one more season please so it can end properly.
ReplyDeleteI love Chuck, I really do.. but I don't know if we will :( We're closer to the cancellation bear than ever this season.
ReplyDeleteRENEW NBC! RENEW!!!
ReplyDeleteHopefully, no.
ReplyDeleteThe ratings have me worried, but I think yes. And I think season five will be it.
