As a fan, this is a really tough cancellation for me to report. I really loved this show and it shocks me that FOX has let it go. Let's take a moment to thank Shawn, and the cast and crew, for a fabulous series.

Extremely disappointing news. The Chicago Code was my favorite series on Fox and it deserved to last several seasons. This is a show that had great word of mouth and critical praise and I could definitely see it growing for the second season after the DVD release. Such a shame.
ReplyDeleteSon of a bitch! I'll let Dean Winchester take it from here...

Nooooooo!!!!!! That show was AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI boycotted the show when it took Lie To Me's timeslot, but I heard nothing but good things about the show. Sorry everyone. :(
ReplyDeleteFOX totally sucks!!!!!!!! almost cancel all the shows on my list!
ReplyDeleteThey will likely keep Lie to Me... the one predictable procedural on the bubble.... !@ !%#%$^^&&!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that guys. I never got a chance to watch it but I only heard good things :(
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be so sure. X Factor will take up a lot of space.
ReplyDeleteTrue and they will save room for Ethan Hawke's series Exit Strategy too. Still.... blah!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've read, I have no interest in either of those new shows. If push comes to shove, I'd rather have L2M back even though it's a directionless procedural.
ReplyDeleteI have interest in Exit Strategy... I love spy genre series. With 24 gone FOX could use an action series badly. Touch maybe less so, but it is Kiefer....
ReplyDeleteI like spy stuff too but Exit Strategy lost me at "Ethan Hawke." :)
ReplyDeleteNow where am I gonna get my weekly Jennifer Beals fix?!
ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeleteI like him as actor... talented and all, but I don;t care for most of his movies either. That said, I never thought petite Mr. Sutherland could ever pull off being a bad ass Spec-Ops operator.... He excelled in the role. So I have hopes against my feelings I guess.
It's good to have hope I suppose. The one thing about FOX is that they keep trying. Shows like TSCC, Dollhouse, Fringe, Human Target, and The Chicago Code are all well-done, unique shows that may not have caught on but are quality television.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Exit Strategy or Touch will follow in those footsteps but with a sustainable audience. Great. Now I'M optimistic. This is all your fault. :)
ME... being called a contagious optimist? Wow, that's not the norm... Instigator or corruptive influence? I am accustomed to those terms...
ReplyDeleteThe worst part is that this is FOX were talking about. This is the network that gave a series order to Past Life. Did you SEE that show? That show stunk so bad it made my eyes water.
ReplyDeleteIve been hearing on twitter that LIE TO ME is cancelled to
ReplyDeleteYeah, no. I knew better than to watch it I guess. FOX seems to make a lot of "hot topic" series on the fly and hope something sticks. Half their series are either ok in premise, but lacking in execution or well executed, but niche appeal that won't get the numbers FOX wants.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: Deadline reports that Lie To Me is also canceled.
ReplyDeleteu gotta be kiddin' me? that makes no sense. argh.
ReplyDeleteThat's true according to Deadline.
ReplyDeleteand I won't be surprised if the new show's that are gonna get picked up will be lame and won't replace the great atmosphere of The Chicago Code.
ReplyDeleteFuck FOX. Ratings weren't that bad, given House is getting lower and lower every week.
ReplyDeleteTCC was the best new drama of the season on network TV (overall, cable included, it's Shameless US).
Perfect writing, cast and directing. I'll miss it.
I hope they catch Gibbons at the end of episode 1.13, I hope we have some closure.
This is disappointing to say the least. I loved The Chicago Code.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Fox also canceled Lie To Me.
I am extremely upset about this. However I can't hate FOX because they gave me my one wish - to renew Fringe for a 4th season.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad, The Chicago Code was a really promising show!
I really regret this, it was an original show that still had plenty of things to say. The actors were great and the fact it was shot in Chicago gave it authenticity. (I'm also supportive of any show that isn't located in GenericTown or in CA, because it often feels as if Hollywood writers have lost their feel for the rest of the country. And The Chicago Code certainly was "rooted".)
ReplyDeleteReprehensible!! One of the most intelligent shows in a LONG time! This decision disgusts me, because too much TV (especially on the major networks) is based on mindless hype and shallow mentality.
