Apparently King equalling Endgame and XIII for episode 3 was just a fluke, Episode 4 had more than double the viewers Showcase got for Endgame for the week of May 2 to May 8

MONDAY

The election took over the schedules and both CBC and CTV released statements claiming victory. Both networks saw ratings peak during the 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. hour, with CTV averaging 2.64 million and CBC averaging 2.01 million viewers. Overall, CTV, combined with CTV News Channel, attracted an average audience of 2.16 million viewers from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m., with CBC and CBC News Network combining for 2 million viewers with Global drawing an average of 668,000. CTV claims their share was a 67 per cent increase over their 2008 federal election coverage.

CBC says they were the nation’s No. 1 election news source if you tally up all their multi-platform coverage, including election reports on CBC Radio One as well as CBCNews.ca. Live streams of CBC News’ coverage were viewed 208,000 times online, with 2 million unique users visiting CBCNews.ca during the election coverage.

CTV News online pulled 971,145 unique visitors over the same time, the second most-viewed day in CTV.ca history.

Across Canada, the new Sun News Network averaged 78,000 viewers from 8 p.m. till midnight Monday, a new viewer high and well above average for the fledgling news service.

There was other stuff on that night, including a Boston/Philly game on TSN (1,085,000), Castle on CTV (741,000), How I Met Your Mother on City (540,000), the season six premiere of Canada’s Worst Handyman on Discovery (232,000), Top Chef Canada on Food (232,000) and Endgame on Showcase (103,000).

TUESDAY

CBC skated off with the night with Vancouver at Nashville (2,538,000). Next highest on the night was NCIS: Los Angeles on Global (1,693,000) followed closely by the new talent search series The Voice on CTV (1,685,000). Glee sang to 1,485,000, Law & Order: SVU 1,198,000 and The Good Wife 1,196,000.

TSN scored 1,081,000 for a Tampa Bay/Washington playoff tilt. Despite being downgraded to A, Dancing with the Stars waltzed off with 1,055,000. Body of Proof, which is looking like it could get picked up by ABC, was City’s big draw with 599,000. Sportsnet batted 442,000 with a Blue Jays game. Canadian Pickers picked up 320,000 on History.

WEDNESDAY

American Idol (2,469,000) and Survivor (2,295,000) were one-two on the night, with Criminal Minds: SB (1,704,000) back in command at CTV. (The original Criminal Minds drew 1,156,000 on A.) Philly/Boston game drew 1,070,000 on CBC. The new Christian Slater comedy Breaking In made off with 940,000 overnight, estimated viewers. NCIS counted 884,000.

TSN scored 868,000 for their San Jose/Detroit tilt. An earlier Tampa Bay/Washington match drew just 590,000.

City’s top show was Modern Family with 679,000. Cougar Town followed at 516,000. Elisha Cuthbert’s new comedy Happy Endings came in a shade under 400,000. Friday Night Lights shone for 283,000 on Global.

THURSDAY

Not even the Canucks (2,688,000) could top The Big Bang Theory (3,028,000). CTV’s top comedy led into the usual solid numbers for Hot in Cleveland (1,584,000), Grey’s Anatomy (2,405,000) and The Mentalist (2,214,000). CSI did 1,400,000 at 7. Anybody remember when that was the family hour?

Global hung in with Bones (1,460,000), a post-Carell episode of The Office (347,000) and Outsourced (462,000), a bubble show I’ll miss if NBC leaves it off its schedule when they announce their pickups for next season next week.

Over at A, 1,301,000 found out who the Top Four would be on the results show of American Idol. Failing to crack 400,000 at various places were shows such as 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, Vampire Diaries and Nikita

FRIDAY

CSI New York (1,686,000), another one of those shows that does better on CTV in Canada than it does on CBS in the States, was the top draw of the night. Next was Game 4 of the Philly/Boston series on CBC (1,467,000), just ahead of an episode of Tom Selleck’s Blue Bloods (1,456,000). CTV threw in an episode of Flashpoint at 8 (1,078,000) just to confuse a bunch of us getting used to seeing The Listener.

TSN got 819,000 for the San Jose/Detroit game. The season finale of Fringe, which I’m still trying to figure out, pulled 427,000. The good news: it will be back next season.

Over on Space, Sanctuary drew 167,000.

SATURDAY

Canada’s team scored again with Hockey Night in Canada’s audience, scoring 3,414,000 viewers. Tina Fey helped boost Saturday Night Live to 410,000 overnight, estimated watchers. Doctor Who drew 386,000 on Saturday.

SUNDAY

The Amazing Race came to the finish line with 2.7 million viewers. That topped the finale of CSI Miami (2,054,000) and TSN’s coverage of the Detroit/San Jose series (1,451,000).

Desperate Housewives did 1,052,000. Even though it is winding down, The Apprentice was down this week, to 846,000. Knew it was a mistake firing Gary Busey.

Over on specialty, Wipeout Canada pulled 305,000 over to TVTropolis. The Borgias did 256,000. CTV is giving this Jeremy Irons drama a summer window. King posted 213,000 on Showcase.

  1.  I sure hope there's some kind of mistake. And the true number for Fringe includes number one and a comma to begin with.
