FRAK IT ANYWAY! When two people are happy on a JJ Abrams series it never lasts long... He will soon punish them for their happiness. Olivia and Peter certainly looked very, VERY happy.
~ "Oh yeah, it's Tuesday. He always goes naked on Tuesdays." ROFL
Love baby Henry Dunham in his red cap representing his universe colors and all! And Henry? How cute is that. Cabbie O'Henry is a godfather... Well, at least has a baby named after him! Too cute!
.... and September's words come to the fore front.... Walter needs to be able to let Peter possibly sacrifice himself.
And this man's name is Sam Weiss... *cue the music* Love me some Sam Weiss, but he is just not as mencing with close cropped hair. I have been waiting for what.. two years now to find out about Sam! About damned time!!
Is/was he a "First Person"? Is/was he an Observer? What is his connection to this universe and "over there".... or to other timelines or universes?
How many people were chanting "Shoot him! Shoot him! Kill Brandonate! Shoot him!" when Fauxlivia has Brandonate at gunpoint? I cannot be alone in that..... Good for her for standing up to Walternate but is it out of a sense of knowing right from wrong.... or loving her babydaddy Peter and wanting to protect him? I think the latter. How will that affect the next two weeks if/when Fauxlivi makes it back over here?
This was an AWESOME episode. Top notch of this season and the series as a whole. It really is too bad that the finale is 3 one-hour episodes. So many important things began to transpire. Two season's worth of events are coming to a boiling point and I would have liked to have seen a bit more without having to wait another week! I am already dreading the feeling I will have next week this time... having to wait yet another week for the finale!!
I didn't think it was awesome. It had a few good moments, but no big surprises or revelations. I do realize though, it is just a arrangement for something epic that will be the next two episodes. CAN'T WAIT FOR IT.
I'm sure other people will comment on the bigger issues, so I'll point out how great it was that while Peter was going to the machine, Astrid took Walter's hand and he took it without really paying attention.
Yeah, that's what I mean. "Faraday" was specifically chosen for Daniel as that scientist was a specialist in electromagnetism, which was Daniel's arc. They used that as the right term, but I also think they couldn't avoid people knowing there was a "Faraday" on Lost.
Right. Kind of like an Easter Egg that was not really an Easter egg. Sure it can be interpreted as homage to LOST, and I suppose they could have just said the cage without saying 'Faraday', why not toss it in and get both out of one word.. Maybe you are right and it was more planned than accidental or unintended.
It's those "little" moments like those that make an awesome episode awesome to me! The subtlety of perfection... or would it be the perfection of subtlety? Either way... the small moments can mean as much or more to me than big events as I watch an episode....
My guess is that it was unplanned, and somewhere along the production process someone was like, "Oh, like Daniel on LOST!" and they were like, "...Yeah.... Exactly...!"
It's both. That's exactly the right interaction those two would have... Astrid knowing to care for Walter and Walter being comforted without knowing her name--though, I think on a level he would only admit to with the right amount of acid, he would know it was Astrid--is what the show has cultivated since its beginning. That they can put that relationship into an episode of this magnitude with about two seconds is why I love it so much.
It felt to me that originally that's where they got Faraday from in the first place, and they just used it again. But, I mean c'mon...the guy in the truck making out with his girlfriend was named Jack...I'm not saying they're 100% homages, but if not, there's a crapload amount of coincidence.
Either way, Brandonate seemed to say the word Faraday with a strange amount of "ooomph" lol
i kind of thought that this was a pretty boring setup episode, especially since they put out like 4 previews of the scenes, and not much else happened. kind of a let down for me.
but did anyone else see a small glimpse of the shapeshifter’s embryo that we last saw in “The Man From the Other Side” in the secret lab that brandonate brought bolivia to? thought that was a nice touch.
I thought it was engaging, it really gives you the effect of the world is ending. We rarely get calm scenes between the characters, and this episode had plenty before the "disasters" started happening. The only problem I see with this episode is that it's clearly gonna be continued exactly where it left off, leaving it with a sense of "incomplete". I'm sure this las 3 episodes were sort of meant to be watched together!
Altlivia did say at the end how she didn't see the death of billions of people was for the greater good. I think there's more to her motives than just Peter.
I go back and forth on her motives. I think she, like the rest of the Fringe team, has been kept in the dark. Now the more she learns, the less she likes the direction Walterante is taking things. then other times I feel a loyalty to her home dimension too. you are probably right though... she has larger reasons than just Peter.
I know exactly what you mean about having to wait two more weeks. Last night was another hour that went by far too fast. Leaving too much unanswered. It's an excellent way of building suspense as to what exactly will happen. Which cast member will die and so much more. One of the best parts of Fringe is none of of is will know to the very end. It sure as hell beats most shows where the ending begins becoming apparent all too early.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

the FARADAY cage?
ReplyDeleteWow.
I personally thought that this was the best episode of the season. Next week's episode looks even better!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think it was awesome. It had a few good moments, but no big surprises or revelations. I do realize though, it is just a arrangement for something epic that will be the next two episodes. CAN'T WAIT FOR IT.
ReplyDeleteThat damned machine even sounds ominous .....
ReplyDeleteGod, that was awesome.

ReplyDeleteThat's a real thing that makes complete sense within the context it was used. But I think it must have been at a least a small shout-out.
*** Observer Sighting ****
ReplyDeleteThis week's Observer was walking behind Fauxlivia and her mom in the plaza. He walked around the fountain left to right around the 21 minute mark.
felt like the first chapter to a three parter with it was... my raiting 8 birds scared sh**less
ReplyDeleteI think many of the LOST characters had names that paid homage to great scientists or philosophers etc...
ReplyDeleteThis time I think it was more just using "Faraday cage" as the proper name of the item.
Maybe it was dual purpose and a shout out?? Dunno...

ASTRID+WALTER is like 10% of the reason I watch this show. If I don't get my odd couple hijinks...well, it's a bad episode!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Walter talking to Olivia about the biggest "mushroom caps" she's ever seen while naked. XD I was LMAO...
I had missed that one while watching.... um... now it's in my mind TYVM!
ReplyDeleteImpressive episode! but whats up with Anna's accent, it would go from Aussie-American-Bellivia through the whole episode
ReplyDeleteI thought I heard some Bellivia too...
ReplyDeletethat was not her mom

OH duh! You're right.. Amy Madigan is her mom. I guess as I wrote it it just seemed like her to me.

ReplyDeleteFaraday cage was also previously used in Fringe in "White Tulip" by Alistair Peck for time travel.

ReplyDeleteOh gosh, me too. Totally missed the reference. I'll be thinking about Walter on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteAwesome doesn't even begin to describe this episode! Loved it!!
