  1. Well that was fast... but no surprise. It was a poor copy of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Curb does well because it is on HBO and can do many things they couldn't do on network TV.... Paul Reiser's show was doomed from the start.

  2. What? Network tv bans good writing and comedic acting?

  3. Well, honestly it seems like they do at times.. Ha!

I mostly meant Larry David and his writing using language they cannot use on network TV. Plus sadly shows like Curb tend not to do well on network TV... even on HBO the ratings numbers are not huge. Not large enough to have let the series go on for 7 or 8 seasons on network TV I don't think.

  4. From just watching the Paul Reiser show, it's inconclusive whether network TV bans good writing and comedic acting, as the Paul Reiser show contained neither of those things. And actually, "30 Rock" and "Parks & Rec," among other shows, have plenty of good writing and comedic acting without the language and content that only cable can get away with.

  5. Oh I don't think they ban it... I meant more that they do not necessarily reward it either. Some very well done series over the years have been cancelled before they had a chance to grow or draw a large audience. Arrested Development and Better Off Ted to name two sitcoms.

I haven't tried Parks and Rec yet... I keep meaning to. I tried the Office and 30 Rock at least 2 or 3 times each and cannot bear to watch more than 10 or 15 minutes before I stop. Guess that's the great thing about variety... there's something everyone thinks is good or funny.

  6. When you start watching Parks & Recs keep in mind that the first season isn't that great. But the show starting getting really good in season 2 and season 3 kept the quality high so far.
