Nikita - 1.18 - Into the Dark - Review

Last night’s episode of Nikita saw Michael, Owen and Nikita head to London to find one of black boxes in “Into the Dark”.

This was the first episode where Michael has switched “to the other side” and is now working with Nikita. I wasn’t sure what effect this would have on the show, the tension between Michael and Nikita has always been a big part of the show and now they’re together, this tension has gone. However, the episode was written very well and I love the new Michael (and the Mikita scenes are just a bonus)! I don’t think it is going to take long for Percy to realise something is going on, how many times can Michael keep making up excuses for not killing Nikita?

The main story of the episode revolved around the guardian of a black box in London. Owen returned to Nikita to tell her he had nearly located the guardian of the box and they needed to go back to London. After some help from Michael, the guardian was located in Camden. There were some epic fight scenes in this episode. When Nikita and Owen first found the guardian outside the Bank we saw some pretty nifty moves! It’s nice to see Nikita being able to keep up the fight scenes and suspense with the love story between Michael and Nikita. One thing I have always given the Nikita writer’s credit for is being able to balance out the storylines well and get a perfect balance of suspense, action and emotion!

After the guardian warned Percy that Nikita and Owen were in London, Michael was sent over to bring them down. Owen had turned a bit crazy after withdrawing from a regimen that the cleaners take. I really thought Michael was going to kill Owen at the end but instead, he just knocked him out. It was nice to see Michael take a softer approach. Michael also defended Alex this episode after Amanda discovered Alex had lied about going into the air vents and the thumb print.

Poor Alex, I don’t think Amanda is ever going to trust her. Amanda seems to know there is something going on between Alex and Michael and now they are both working even more closely together it will be interesting to see how this develops.

The end of the episode saw an emotional Nikita hug Owen after he apologised for killing Daniel. There could not be a better actress to play Nikita than Maggie Q, she is just perfect for this role and seeing the more emotional scenes like this one reminds you why she is so perfect. Her way of conveying the emotion while still being a strong, powerful woman always blows me away. She is brilliant.

Overall, another brilliant episode from Nikita. The direction of the finale is starting to take form but anything could happen still! I for one can’t wait to see how this season ends.
