"We're going to learn a great deal about this wedding, but not everything," teases executive producer Carter Bays of his top-secret May 16 season ender (the name of the episode: Barney's catchphrase, "Challenge Accepted").

I'm hearing the finale will reveal the face of only the bride or groom, with the other individual's identity revealed next season, which will also take place in a prewedding time period. "We'll sort of keep touching back on the wedding to fill out the details more and more as the series continues [at least through 2013]."

But with Ted confirmed as best man, Bays says we can safely predict that at least one or two of the following is the intended bride and/or groom: Barney, Robin or Ted's childhood friend, Punchy. "I can guarantee [the wedding] doesn't go great," adds Bays. "Nothing on this show is necessarily happily ever after. It'll be the end of somebody's love story and the beginning of Ted's."

    Well, there goes all my excitement. I figured it'd be Barney/Robin's wedding and they'd end up being endgame.

    Maybe the bride is Robin and the groom is that guy she keeps running into. Or the groom could be Barney and he could be trying to settle down with a girl we haven't seen yet.

    I'm pretty sure we'll just find out that it's Barney's wedding. There has been a lot of character development going on this season with Nora and now with his dad. Considering that Nora will pop up in the finale I assume they'll become a couple and the kind of cliffhanger will be if she is the bride or Robin.

    I'm hoping it's Punchy's! I don't want either Barney or Robin to get married (unless it's to each other and I seriously doubt it will be as her crush is there next season and Nora is there at end of the season!!)

    I want it to be Barney and Robin's wedding, but Carter Bays saying that "Nothing on this show is necessarily happily ever after. It'll be the end of somebody's love story and the beginning of Ted's." makes me scared. Coz Barney and Robin getting married is happily ever after. And if either of them marries someone else is the end of a love story. So I'm thinking it can be Barney and Nora's wedding. I like Nora, but imo Barney belongs with Robin.

    You know what it could be? I mean, Bays says the wedding goes great so MAYBE it's Barney and Nora's wedding, but we'll find out next season that Robin interrupts it ("I OBJECT!" style lol) and Barney and Robin end up together in a final twist.
