-Ratings Breakdown:
Despite airing a night of all repeats, CBS still managed to lead the Tuesday overnight troops, with a 1.4 rating point advantage over second-place Fox. But the home of Glee, no doubt, will dominate among key adults 18-49. In the distant No. 3 spot was NBC, followed by ABC and lowly The CW. Keep in mind that 54 percent of the line-up last night was encore telecasts.
Aforementioned Glee on Fox won the 8 p.m. hour in the overnights, with an 8.8 rating/14 share. Comparably, that beat the encore telecast of CBS’ competing NCIS (#2: 8.4/13) by five percent. Glee’s advantage among adults 18-49 will, of course, be significantly stronger.
Fox, as usual, deteriorated in the 9 p.m. hour with its combination of Raising Hope (#3: 4.5/ 7) and recent entry Traffic Light (#4: 2.9/ 5), which is no better than former occupant Running Wilde. If quality was the benchmark, Raising Hope would be an “A+” option, but retention out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of Glee last night (8.8/14) was lacking at 51 percent. More viewers need to discover Raising Hope.
CBS aired repeats of NCIS: Los Angeles (#1: 8.5/13), which completely held its encore NCIS lead-in, and older-skewing The Good Wife (#1: 5.8/10) from 9-11 p.m.
Over at NBC, two more hours of demo friendly The Biggest Loser scored a typical 5.1/ 8 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:
The Biggest Loser (NBC)
8:00 p.m.: 4.8/ 8 (#3)
8:30 p.m.: 4.7/ 7 (#3)
9:00 p.m.: 5.1/ 8 (#2)
9:30 p.m.: 5.7/ 9 (#2)
That led into a repeat of Parenthood with a very last-place 2.2/ 4 at 10 p.m. With so many other time period holes for NBC to worry about, Parenthood could ultimately return next season. So, do not rule it out…yet.
On ABC, a repeat of struggling No Ordinary Family did not gain any new eyeballs, with a fourth-place 2.7/ 5 in the overnights at 8 p.m. That led into on-the-fence sophomore V (#4: 3.6/ 6 at 9 p.m.), which is not expected back next season, and soon-to-exit Detroit 1-8-7 (#2: 3.6/ 6 at 10 p.m.), which is expected to be officially canceled. As a reminder, upcoming crime solver Body of Proof steps into the 10 p.m. hour on March 29.
Last, and very least, was The CW’s encore combination of One Tree Hill (0.8/ 1) and Hellcats (0.7/ 1).
