-Ratings Breakdown:
Sappy but popular The Bachelor, which concludes the season on March 14, led ABC to overnight Monday victory, with an advantage over No. 2 Fox of 1.2 rating points. Third overall was CBS, which is not benefitting by the absence of Two and a Half Men in originals, followed by NBC and, of course, The CW.
The Bachelor averaged a season-high 7.8 rating/12 share from 8-10 p.m., finishing first in each of the four half-hours as follows:
The Bachelor (ABC)
8:00 p.m.: 7.3/11 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 7.5/11 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 7.9/12 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 8.5/13 (#1)
As for upcoming Dancing with the Stars, which opens its next season on March 21, scroll down to TV Tidbits for the upcoming list of participants.
ABC capped off the evening with mystery Castle at a dominant 6.8/11 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Once Dancing with the Stars returns, expect a major fuse of interest in Castle.
Second-place Fox kicked-off the evening with old faithful House (#2: 7.1/11), which while not the force it once was still has a loyal following. Next was week four of crime solver The Chicago Code at a third-place 5.3/ 8 in the overnights at 9 p.m. Considering The Chicago Code is performing similarly to recent occupant Lie to Me, Fox must decide which, if any, of the two dramas will return next season. My personal prediction is The Chicago Code.
In week three news, CBS sitcom Mad Love lost more steam with a third-place 5.1/ 8 at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, that dipped by 20 percent from How I Met Your Mother at 8 p.m. (#3: 6.4/10), which is worthy of accolades for the expected strength among adults 18-49. Three-week overnight track: 5.8/ 9 -- 5.3/ 8 -- 5.1/ 8. Like recent occupant Rules of Engagement, Mad Love is nothing more of a respectable performer than will never be able to stand on its own.
At 9 p.m. on CBS, a repeat of Two and a Half Men finished second at 7.4/11. But the absence of any further original episodes of the sitcom this season (and perhaps permanently) will be costly. The positive news for waiting-to-be renewed lead-out Mike & Molly (#2: 7.3/11 at 9:30 p.m.) was retention of 99 percent out of the Two and a Half Men encore. At 10 p.m., a repeat of the Eye net’s Hawaii Five-O finished third with a 4.9/ 8.
NBC, as usual, was anemic from 8-10 p.m. with its pairing of Chuck (#4: 3.4/ 5) and the final episode of The Cape (#4: 2.4/ 4). The Cape might of worked had it aired on corporate cable cousin Syfy. At 10 p.m., older-skewing Harry’s Harry rose to a second-place 6.1/10. Comparably, that was a hefty154 percent above the 9:30 p.m. portion of The Cape (2.4/ 4). Click below for Mr. TV’s interview with Harry’s Law star Kathy Bates.

Last, and very least, was The CW’s young female-driven combination of 90210 (#5: 1.5/ 2) and Gossip Girl (#5: 1.4/ 2), which never resonate in the overnights.
