The long-in-development FX series based on the comic book "Powers" has finally gotten a green light.
Brian Michael Bendis, who wrote the award-winning graphic novel (Michael Avon Oeming was its artist), tweeted over the weekend that the show, which initially went into development two years ago, had been ordered to pilot: "it's official!" he wrote. "[Y]our window of reading Powers while it was still cool is running out."
Bendis' tweet was followed by one from ex-"Battlestar Galactica" star Katee Sackhoff, who said she took a meeting about playing one of the two lead characters, Deena Pilgrim, last year and has just been "waiting for a green light to go after it."
"Powers" is about a pair of homicide detectives who work in a world where superheroes are part of everyday life. Deena is a feisty young detective who's partnered with Christian Walker, a veteran cop who used to be a "power" himself before losing his abilities.
