If J.J. Abrams’ “Alcatraz” becomes the hit series it’s expected to, cast member Karina Andrews will become a household name.
Andrews has done numerous commercials and voice-overs; she’s also appeared in such films as “Sweet November,” and the independent feature “Mission.”
A former corporate attorney, she also speaks Swedish and French in addition to English.
In “Alcatraz,” the New York actress plays Sheila, the mother of Susie. Both characters figure prominently into Elizabeth Sarnoff’s story of missing guards and inmates reappearing in the modern day.
Filming wrapped up on the island on Feb. 8, and Andrews found it to be quite a unique experience. “It was not my first time on Alcatraz, but it was my first time at night,” said Andrews.
“Working in the operating wing of the hospital was definitely a little spooky as night fell along with the temperature.”
“Having my make-up touched up around the corner from the solitary confinement cell stands out as one of my most vivid memories,” she continued.
“The production is wonderful. It truly helped me develop my character to work on an isolated and historical location like Alcatraz.”
“Alcatraz” debuts on FOX this fall.
