Ed gets jealous when a millionaire pursues Rosemary.
After going out with Rosemary (Jean Smart) for a month, Ed told her that he doesn't want to be exclusive. He wouldn't tell her why.
That may have been a bad idea when Rosemary's old flame, millionaire Don Reger (Lee Majors), blows into town. They are going to go on a date to the zoo, to attend the opening of a new exhibit for the panda Don brought back from China. He is like Ed, with money.
Meanwhile, Vince and Bonnie's former boss, Katie shows up to donate her ova, so the couple could her conceive a child. After some consideration, they are really happy about it, that is until Ed's dog got to them first.
When Don warns his competition that he plans to go steady with Rosemary after the zoo event, Ed finds a way to crash their date.
Dressed up like an eagle, Ed confronted Don, who is in a panda outfit, when he stakes his claim. "I like Rosemary. I've done everything short of telling her and acting like it. That's going to change. You don't want to mess with me."
Zoo --> Grown men in animal costumes --> You have to know where this is going.
As Rosemary speaks to a group of children gathered in front of the new enclosure, eagle Ed gets a jump on panda Don. "This sometimes happens in the wild when two very different species are introduced into the same habitat."
They fight until Ed knocks the other guy out cold. "You can't just swoop in here and beat up my date!"
"I wanna be with you." Ed pleads. "I should have told you, but I was afraid of looking foolish."
Rosemary is touched by his actions. "I never had a man who do anything so stupid for me before." She agrees to be exclusive with Ed just as security drag him away.
Comments:
The show creators continue to amaze with the tongue-in-cheek moments. This time with a visual. The first time we see Don, he's wearing a red track suit, reminiscent of the one Lee Majors wore in "The Six Million Dollar Man". As for Lee Majors, I think he looks really good. On top of that, eagle and panda scuffled like Captain Kirk did in Star Trek.
The funniest scene came when Bonnie blurts out. "The bulldog ate my baby!" I laughed when the dog looked straight at the camera. Even Rootbeer had comedic timing.
