Grey's Anatomy - Episode 7.13 - Don't Deceive Me - Review

After a short hiatus Grey's Anatomy returned last night with the episode "Don't Deceive Me(Please Don't Go)".

We finally found out the outcome of Callie revealing to Arizona that she was pregnant with Mark's baby and, from a Callie and Arizona fan's perspective, it was a happy one. Arizona was initially angry at Callie but she could not stay this way and came to terms with the news, at the end of the episode, she referred to the baby as "our baby". It's nice to see Callie and Arizona back on track. Callie also revealed the news to Mark who was excited by the news he was going to be a father but worried about what Lexie would think. When he told Lexie she was less than impressed. I was very against this whole baby storyline. I love Lexie and Mark as a couple and I love Callie and Arizona as a couple. I'm extremely happy it seems to be working for Callie and Arizona, I just hope Lexie can come to terms with it too (which I doubt).

We finally saw Derek and Mark interact with each other when Mark went to see Derek for advice on what to do. Derek was jealous that Mark and Callie can have a baby after one night when Meredith and Derek have been trying for over two months. Derek referred to Mark as the "cool uncle" and stormed off. I loved that scene, I really want to see more of Derek and Mark!

While all this was going on, the Chief discovered that Bailey had introduced "tweeting" to the OR. The residents were tweeting information about the surgeries and receiving questions that Bailey could answer. Initially, the Chief was not impressed by this, mainly because he didn't know what "twitter" was, (epic scene between the Chief and Owen when he referred to Bailey's tweets as "teats").

As the episode progressed, we saw the Chief start to enjoy the use of Twitter as he realised it could save lives and bring surgeons together around the world. I loved the involvement of Twitter at the beginning of the episode, but by the end, I was a bit fed up of it. It almost seemed like the whole moral of the episode was that tweeting is a good thing, so if you don't tweet, you should start. Were Twitter sponsoring this episode or something?

Derek also began his clinical trial this week for Alzheimer's patients. He initially chose Alex to assist him but Alex soon realised that Meredith had the magic touch needed to communicate to these patients so Alex quit the trial. The first patient's of the trial showed just how heartbreaking this disease can be. There were some very emotional scenes between Alex and the patient's family. I am looking forward to seeing how this trial can progress, it has a lot of potential.

Overall, last night's episode was great! The last few episodes of Grey's have been brilliant for me. I had gone off the show a bit when season 7 started, I felt the show had lost something that made it so special but the show has found its way again. I definitely prefer the episodes which are focused around the original Surgeons which last night's was. It's great having Christina back to her normal self, when she pretended to be crying to make Avery feel guilty was brilliant! Callie was also very comical this episode. I love seeing humour mixed in with real emotion, I think Grey's is one of the few shows that manages to pull this off! Keep it up please!
