-Ratings Breakdown:
Normally dominant CBS, which aired a night of all repeats, dipped into the No. 3 spot in the metered markets behind ABC and Fox. Fourth overall was revamped NBC, followed by The CW.

In week two news, NBC drama Harry’s Law, headlined by Oscar winner Kathy Bates, led the 10 p.m. hour with a 7.1 rating/12 share in the overnights. While it did face a repeat of Hawaii Five-O on CBS (#3: 4.2/ 7), what is very promising for Harry’s Law was growth of a hefty 92 percent out of recently introduced lead-in The Cape (#4: 3.7/ 5 at 9 p.m.). Comparably, this was only five percent below it’s week-ago series-opener (7.5/12 on January 17). ABC’s competing (and more established) Castle finished second with a 6.6/11. Two weeks in and Harry’s Law could very well be a keeper.

Earlier in the evening on NBC was Chuck at a fourth-place 3.9/ 6 at 8 p.m. Four seasons in and it is time to let Chuck go, don’t you think?

Over at dominant ABC, veteran The Bachelor continues to resonate among the target young female audience, with a 6.6/10 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., and the half-hour breakdown as follows:

8:30 p.m.: 6.5/ 9 (#2)
9:00 p.m.: 6.6/10 (#2)
9:30 p.m.: 6.8/10 (#1)

Although this is not as strong as season’s past, The Bachelor is certainly decent time period filler for Dancing with the Stars. One year earlier, The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love averaged a 7.5/11 on January 25, 2010.

Fox continues to get mileage out of now veteran House, with a first-place 7.3/11 in the overnights at 8 p.m. (and a definite dominant time period finish among adults 18-49). Lead-out Lie to Me, which concludes for the season (or the series) next Monday, followed with a third-place 5.3/ 8 at 9 p.m.

The CW had nothing unusual to report with serialized dramas 90210 (#5: 1.6/ 2) and Gossip Girl (#4: 1.4/ 2), while corporate cousin CBS’ encore line-up performed as follows:

While I do understand who The CW’s target audience is, young females, from an overnight standpoint these are “losers.”
