Grey's Anatomy continued with another great episode last night "Start Me Up". The episode focused on the residents looking after new first year medical students as the race for Chief Resident began.
Christina was back to her usual, no-emotion determined self which was great. Although it has seemed to go from one extreme to the other a bit with Christina but we have the old her back and that is what matters.
The medical students provided the usual humour that always appears around this storyline. We had the attractive young female that of course Alex ended up with, the clumsy one who was partnered with Christina, the nosey unprofessional one with Meredith and the underdog with Avery. I enjoyed how they were paired and it fitted really well with the storylines that were currently going on. At the end of the day the medical students were asked to evaluate their mentor to which the interns were surprised as nearly all of them (apart from Alex) received negative feedback.
The Chief discovered last night that Teddy had married the Chief and Bailey's patient in order to provide him with medical insurance to which he was less than impressed. It was nice to see more of Teddy. She's been pushed to the back a bit this season so seeing her struggle with the reality and consequences of her actions was refreshing. It appears that Teddy is starting to fall in love with Henry. I hope we don't get another Denny/Izzy situation.
Callie also revealed a huge piece of news last night, she is pregnant with Mark's baby, (sorry Calzona fans!) Throughout the episode, Arizona had been talking to Mark to try and find out how to reach out to Callie, once she finally seemed to manage to achieve this, Callie threw that at her. I was so gutted. As a shipper of Calzona, I'm a bit annoyed at this story. I want to see them back together. At the same time, the story provides some great drama to the show and it will be exciting to see how Arizona responds to this. Will she still be as keen to reunite with Callie? Or will she now be doing everything in her power to avoid her? I am also interested to see Lexie's reaction to the news about Callie and Mark.
Overall, the episode was another brilliant one of season 7 which opened up a lot of brilliant directions for the show for the remainder of the season. There are so many open storylines now all of which provide suspense and drama. Who will be the next Chief Resident? What will happen with Teddy and Henry, will there be major consequences for Teddy? Will Bailey finally settle down with Eli? When will Meredith finally get pregnant? Will Lexie and Arizona forgive Callie and Mark? I could go on. After a shaky start to season 7, the show has certainly found its place again. I am very excited for the rest of the season.
