-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC scored an impressive overnight Sunday victory care of the Philadelphia at Dallas match-up on Sunday Night Football. But CBS was on the map with a comfortable second-place finish. Third in the overnights was ABC, followed by Fox.
Philadelphia at Dallas on NBC averaged an approximate 16.4 rating/24 share from 8:30-11 p.m., with the half-hour breakdown as follows:
Sunday Night Football (NBC)
8:30 p.m.: 15.6/23 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 16.5/24 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 17.3/25 (#1)
10:00 p.m.: 16.1/24 (#1)
10:30 p.m.: 16.7/26 (#1)
Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game Football Night in America as follows:
Football Night in America
7:00 p.m. – part one: 3.4/ 6 (#3)
7:30 p.m. – part two: 5.5/ 9 (#2)
8:00 p.m. – part three: 9.9/15 (#2)
Keep in mind, of course, that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
Since an approximate 30-minute football overrun bled into CBS primetime, all results for the network are estimated and appear as follows:
CBS/Sunday
7:00 p.m. – Football: 18.8/30 (#1)
7:30 p.m. – 60 Minutes: 12.3/19 (#1)
8:00 p.m. – 60 Minutes: 11.7/18 (#1)
8:30 p.m. – The Amazing Race: 7.9/11 (#2) – season finale
9:00 p.m. – The Amazing Race: 8.3/12 (#2) – season finale
9:30 p.m. – Undercover Boss: 7.0/10 (#3)
10:00 p.m. – Undercover Boss: 8.6/13 (#2)
10:30 p.m. – CSI: Miami: 6.1/10 (#3)
Over at ABC there was nothing unusual to report with its combination of America’s Funniest Home Videos (#2: 4.9/ 8), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (#3: 5.4/ 8), Desperate Housewives (#2: 8.1/12) and Brothers & Sisters (#3: 6.3/10). Once upon a time, an episode as over-the-top as Desperate Housewives last night would have been saved for a sweeps period.
Last, and least, was Fox’s line-up of a repeat of canceled Running Wilde (#4: 2.1/ 3), a repeat of The Simpsons (#4: 2.7/ 4), the regularly scheduled edition of The Simpsons (#4: 4.8/ 7), a one-hour edition of Family Guy (#4: avg. 5.5/ 8 from 8:30-9:30 p.m.) and American Dad (#4: 4.2/ 6). The expected solid finish for Family Guy among adults 18-49 (and overnight growth of 15 percent out of The Simpsons) is worthy of positive mention.
