Glee-Episode 2.10-A Very Glee Christmas-Recap

A Very Glee Christmas indeed! This weeks episode was all about the spirt of Christmas and it delivered. After last weeks some what disappointing episode it was good to see and hear Glee get back to what makes it a great show.
One of the first scenes had Brittany admitting to Artie that she still very much believes in Santa Clause. Although unlikely, it's believable because well its Brittany. This scene shifted into the first song of the episode The Most Wonderful Day of the Year which had the kids singing around a tree Finn found on the side of the road, while decorating and wrapping gifts. Lyrics like We are all misfits symbolize that they are indeed misfits and although it is sometimes embraced, the kids would still love to be accepted and popular. This leads to the horrible idea by Mr. Schue to sing Carole's to every classroom.
The dysfunctional and angst ridden relationship between Finn and Rachel is still in full force this episode. Rachel decides to make a grand gesture to Finn. She has the stage decorated with fake tree's looking very much like a winter wonderland. Finn however dismisses them by saying he only loves real christmas tree's(that hurts) and then proceeds to ignore her attempts at apologizing and walks away. The saddest moment, he didn't even get to see the snow fall as Rachel crunes to Merry Christmas, Darling-an absolutely beautiful and heart breaking song. Later on Rachel tries again with Finn when they go to look for a new Christmas Tree. Their duet of Last Christmas was great and very fitting for the occasion. Rachel puts herself out there and Finn shuts her down-again. This time telling her that she doesn't see how hurt he is and then says they are officially broken up.
Now if you read my recap last week then you know i find this whole issue problematic. Rachel is practically throwing herself at Finn and trying to apologize and he wont have any of it. My problem lies again in the writing and ignoring facts from previous episodes. Did Finn and Ryan Murphy forget that Finn cheated on Quinn TWICE with Rachel? I've said it before and i'll say it again i love this show for everything that it is, but there so many inconsistencies that cannot be ignored.
Moving on-it would not be Christmas without the Grinch-and who better to dawn green face paint then Sue Sylvester? Sue as the Grinch was almost too good and completely sad at the same time. Stealing all those gifts and destroying the Glee Clubs christmas tree, not good. Of course she has a change of heart and instead spreads some holiday cheer to Will who is spending christmas alone this year. But like my mother pointed out-you know the next time we see Sue she's gunna be back to trying to destroy Mr. Schue and Glee Club.
This episode focused on Brittany still believing in Santa, but more importantly her one and only wish- let Artie walk again. Could it be more heartbreaking that we know this is never going to happen and that Brittany doesn't know this yet? This forces the Glee Guys to get Coach Bieste to dress up as Santa and tell Brittany that her wish is just not going to come true this year.
Another great scene was the duet by Kurt and Blaine to Baby It's Cold Outside. These two have great chemistry together and you can see it in this song.
There have been times where people have said that certain episodes were going to be real tear jerkers, and truthfully every time they've said it, i've never really felt it. But seeing Artie standing up and walking with the Re-Walk had me and my mom blubbering like babies. And as Quinn says its a Christmas Miracle and it truly is. This moment was absolutely beautiful to see everyone there happy and smiling for Artie as he takes tentative steps forward. A truly great Glee moment.
Overall this episode gets 3.5/5 it really stepped up from last week-minus some inconsistencies. Having to wait until February 6th for the Super Bowl episode is going to be torture-but that's why we have Tumblr and PVR.
Moment of the Episode: Easily Artie walking such a great moment for Kevin McHale (Artie) and the Glee Club to embrace together.
Music of the Episode: The soundtrack was released weeks before this episode so i assume everyone has heard it. The one song i wish they'd put in the episode was not there. So if you have the soundtrack or not Lea Michele singing O Holy Night is the epidemoy of the greatest Christmas song-in fact the greatest song she's ever sung on the show. It's an absolute must so check it out-right now.
Let me know your thoughts on the episode as well as your favorite Glee Christmas song!
