Thanks to Urinal Turd for the heads up.
Yet more rumors about season two. This time we are hearing that HBO is already looking at some alternate locations for filming the next season of Game Of Thrones. Obviously the bulk of the filming will continue in Northern Ireland. But it sounds like they are planning to do some filming in Iceland and Morocco for season two. Iceland would obviously be an ideal place to shoot much of what happens in the far North, while Morocco would seem to be a good stand-in for Dany’s journey. No word on whether they plan to return to Malta or not.
Winter Is Coming: Despite this being just an unconfirmed rumor at this point, both of these locations make a lot of sense. They have filmed in Morocco before, for the original pilot, so obviously there is some familiarity with the location. And Iceland is relatively close to Northern Ireland, has been used in many major films before, and also offers a 20% government reimbursement.
