There's been a lot of ire about Joss Whedon being left out of the planned next Buffy The Vampire Slayer feature film. But now, just over a week later, new information has come out: The Hollywood Reporter has published a story saying that Whedon was indeed approached to be a part of the movie, but that he turned down the opportunity.
Here's the text:
According to studio insiders, he was approached last year after Buffy rightsholder Fran Rubel Kuzui and husband Kaz Kuzui began developing a remake with Vertigo. After [being] presented with the opportunity, Whedon decided he'd rather work on other projects (he's making Marvel Studios' The Avengers). Producers then began searching for a writer and late last year hired actress-turned-scribe Whit Anderson.Do you think Whedon made the right call if indeed he did pass on the film? Does the knowledge that it may have been his choice not to be involved change how you feel about the reboot?
