I just wanted to thank everyone. Below is a little piece I wrote when we reached 100 Million mark. The same sentiments apply now more than ever.
Here's to the next 100 Million!
Update: 11:28 We passed the 100th Million at 11:26!
In less than an hour we're going to pass our 100th Million Page Hit!
Today, Yesterday, This Month and Total Hits
Original Article posted back in November 2010
When I first started SpoilerTV back in Feb 2007 I had no idea if it would work or if people would want such a site. (About SpoilerTV)
Looking backing nearly 4 years later and having just passed our 90th Million page hit, I could never have dreamt just how popular SpoilerTV would become.
However, the most pleasing thing, and the one that makes me the most proud looking at SpoilerTV today, is that of the community we have built up here and in the Forums.
We may not be able to compete with the "big boys" like E!Online, EW or TV Guide in terms of mainstream recognition or the number of people who visit those sites each day, but what we do have IMHO is, bar none, the best community of readers, contributors and commentators.
Our readers, contributors and commentators are by far the most knowledgeable, respectful and helpful that I've come across on any TV related site.
With all that in mind however, like any site, we want to continue to grow, improve and expand ourselves to help us get more people visiting, more people joining the community and more mainstream recognition. Getting all of these will help us get more access into the mainstream Broadcast and Cable networks, which in turn give us more access to press material, cast interviews, advance previews etc etc that we can then share with you.
In order to do that, we need YOUR help.
I know it may seem like a little thing to most of you and you may not realise the significance but those little Twitter and Facebook Icons really do make a difference.
Everytime you click the Facebook like button on an article or ReTweet some of our content, that info might be seen by one of your friends who may not have been previously aware of SpoilerTV. They in turn might start following us and telling their friends etc. So you can see how this little act can turn into a big trickle of new people to the site.
They are like the fuel that keeps the site turning over.
So next time you see the Facebook like or Twitter button, please take a couple of seconds to give them a click. It helps us help you and will ensure that we can grow and make the site bigger and better.
Thanks for listening. Now get back to work ;)
Congrats on passing 90 Million. This is the only TV site I comment on as people are respectful here as opposed to many other sites which are not moderated and people are just rude and nasty to each other.
ReplyDeleteI already automatically tweet all your content :)
Here's to the next 90 Million!
I don't tweet and have a Facebook account since last july. Never thought about those 'like" buttons, really, but you can count on me from this day forward to "facebook-like it" a lot ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing things great.
All of us other TV sites know that you are a great source, and a bar to measure.

My (online-)friends already know about this site and I'll do my best to get you more visitors :)
ReplyDeleteThanks ;)
ReplyDelete:D No worries I tell every one to go on that site if they want good spoilers eheheh
ReplyDeleteTweet, tweet says the little birdie! Congrats on the 90 million!
ReplyDeleteWell said, let's work on it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Chanelle :) Maybe you should threaten them if they don't lol ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, let's hope the next 90 Million doesn't take 4 years ;)
ReplyDeleteCheers Maria!
ReplyDeleteWe support SpoilerTV! Congratulations for your awesome work!
ReplyDeleteNice article! Good to see people Tweeting this one out :P
ReplyDeleteLove your site. Visit it everyday
ReplyDeleteWow, that number is really impressive! Congratulations! :D it's awesome that spoilertv is such a friendly and respectful site for all fans and not one particular group.
ReplyDeleteI just have one tiny suggestion for the tweets, don't include the episode names in the title. I got a few spoiler-free - shocking I know ;D - friends and I sometimes don't retweet because the tweet itself could be too spoilery for them.
Will we see the 'Happy lurker day - cat' again? It was so cute. *grins*
Congratulations on 90 million hits - that's so awesome.
ReplyDeleteI've only just got a facebook account but I've already started hitting that like button. It's great to be able to share the things I like too. :)
I know I've said it before but SpoilerTV rocks - looooong may it continue <3
Congrats on the 90M mark. I've been keeping up with SpoilerTV since the good old 'Alias' days, when I used to provide spoilers and annoy DarkUFO whenever there was anything new. In a way, I consider myself part of it.
ReplyDeleteI always RT/like/recommend most content, as I understand it's crucial to the growth of the website.
Thanks for everything!
What a wonderful sentiment. Great post, makes me feel like liking this on fb. (which I did, of course!)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on passing 90 Million ...may they be more 90 Million to come :")..guys doing great job...just love come here to look for spoilers
ReplyDelete-infogirl-
I heard from a little bird that it won't! ;>
ReplyDeletecongratulations on hitting 90 mil viewers, its a remarkable achievement; I will do everything I can do spread awareness about this website.
ReplyDeleteI have been a fan of this site for a few years now. I have also spread the word around to family and friends who now, visit here often. Congrats on the 90mil hits! I will continue to do my part and keep up the excellent work.
ReplyDeleteYou can definitely count on me!
ReplyDeleteI used to come to this site a lot, especially when Lost was around but now that pages for tv shows dont actually have the articles posted, we have to go to separate pages to see each article on a show. It is, in my opinion a huge mistake to switch for this site to do this. It just makes it a huge hurdle to see and read anything about any show.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. In all honesty, I think it's an improvement as one can see many more things than before at a time, and with the quicker loading times and the new widget thing at the bottom of the browser, everything is streamlined and working great for me at the very least. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't need your help at all with maintaining the site.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteThanks John, and thanks for your Dexter info :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, that's very kind :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Paulo :)
ReplyDeleteThat's really very kind of you to say Pulpo, good luck with your site as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, yes it's very much appreciated :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Claudia,
ReplyDeleteWhat you can do for the tweets, is use the Tweet button here on the
site. It gives you a chance to make changes to the text etc before
sending out to your followers. I think if we automatically removed the
episodes from the posts it would lead to more harm than good as it
could confuse people.
Hey Manuela, good to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteYes, good times :)
Thanks very much :)
ReplyDeleteI'll make another post when we get to 180 million :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Arun, that's very kind of you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for you all your past and future help :)
ReplyDeleteSorry you feel that way. Feedback overall since the change was made
ReplyDeletewas extremely positive. People with slow connections and via
smartphones/mobiles can actually use the site a lot more effectively
as the home page now loads a lot quicker
We're looking at something for the future whereby people can customise
the look and content of the homepage.
Ha, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteI really like this site. Come here for quite some time now. But I'm a bit annoyed about this: When you for example click on http://www.spoilertv.com/search/label/Grey's%20Anatomy, all I get is headlines instead of the news. When you want a quick overview of what spoilers there are about Grey's, this isn't the good website for that any more... Any chance you can change that? ;-)

I actually like it the way it is now. As DarkUFO said, having just the headlines saves loading time, especially considering the volume of posts for each label and the type of content (which is usually pictures, video, etc.). You can focus on the main headlines and then decide which post you'll open.
ReplyDeleteI run a website and I use full posts, because we do not update very frequently, so usually if you visit every two or three days, you just have to read the latest post. But if we updated more often, I'd positively consider just headlines. I guess the ultimate user-friendly website is customisable but, for now, I believe this design works great.
No worries, good .. creator of this site, when I come upon things I find interesting that I want to share, I've always hit the like and retweet buttons. n.n
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think I'll be planning on stopping. o 3o
Well how much of the overall use of the website is even coming from mobile phones compared to people using it on a computer? yeah it loads faster but the usability, for me atleast, goes dow significanty.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I see 10% as insignificant. By crutching the website to conform to mobiles, everyone else is getting screwed.
ReplyDeleteI am simply stating my opinion on this matter. I am thankful for what you have been able to accomplish, a one stop place for everything Lost and have been able to branch it off to other tv shows.
I am a big fan as well and a TV Nut! The TV Social Network - TVFanSpace.com launched about two years after you...I bounce between here, their and network boards but since then TVFanSpace.com has a link straight to you on your main tool bar so it's easy to enjoy both places. Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Dark! This is the one and only site I come to for all my spoiler needs. Hell, I check it daily. The community is friendly, the posts informative and help me get my spoiler fix each week, and the site very easy to navigate. I'll definitely start retweeting more posts if it means that I can get a few more people over to this site!
ReplyDeleteAbout 10% or 20,000 page hits per day
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria,
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head. We have typically around 100 posts per
day which make the site load very slowly when scrolling through that
number.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Personally I see 10% as very significant but as I said it's on our plans to
ReplyDeletebuild a configurable homepage
Thanks Ron
ReplyDeleteThanks Sasha, that's very kind of you indeed.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend.
Awesome website, always come here if the other site I use as well hasn't been updated.
ReplyDeleteThanks Glenda, glad you enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteHey, i have a YouTube Supernatural Support Account with all promos and sneaks. I link everytime @ your pages for source summary, photos and more. Hope that will help you too!!
ReplyDelete90 million hits, and it's all down to one man.
ReplyDeleteAndy, you sir, are a legend :) We are all so grateful for the site you continue to provide!
Thanks mate, although there are so many people who contribute greatly
ReplyDeleteto the site. I mearly created it and the community have embraced it
and taken it to a level that I could never have dreamed of.
congrats! my friends and I have a site called Winchester Daily and we always RT your tweets... I think you should follow us lol
ReplyDeletei simply can't come here, read your stuff and leave without commenting. I feel like a sinner or a criminal.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much... greatly appreciated!
