-Ratings Breakdown:
Football-ignited NBC led the Sunday overnight troops, with the New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers at a hefty (and estimated) 14.6 rating/22 share from 8:30-11 p.m. and the half-hour breakdown as follows:

Sunday Night Football (NBC)
8:30 p.m.: 14.5/22 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 15.0/22 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 15.5/22 (#1)
10:00 p.m.: 14.6/22 (#1)
10:30 p.m.: 13.6/22 (#1)

Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game Football Night in America as follows:

Football Night in America
7:00 p.m. – part one: 1.7/ 3 (#4)
7:30 p.m. – part two: 3.5/ 6 (#4)
8:00 p.m. – part three: 9.5/15 (#1)

Keep in mind, as always, that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

Second-place Fox got a major boost from football as well, with a half-hour football overrun at a whopping 18.1/20 in the overnights at 7 p.m., leading into post game The OT at a dominant 13.9/22 at 7:30 p.m. With a lead-in of this magnitude, just renewed The Simpsons was above-average with a third-place 6.1/ 9 in the overnights at 8 p.m., followed by The Cleveland Show (#4: 4.2/ 6), Family Guy (#4: 4.9/ 7) and American Dad (#4: 3.5/ 5) from 8:30-10 p.m. Overnight growth for Family Guy out of The Cleveland Show this week was 17 percent.

CBS, which started Sunday primetime on time for a change, opened with granddaddy 60 Minutes at a healthy (and second-place) 8.9/14 in the overnights at 7 p.m. Next on The Eye net was The Amazing Race (#2: 7.1/11 at 8 p.m.), followed by Undercover Boss (#3: 6.8/10), which is not the force it once was, and relocated CSI: Miami (#2: 6.6/11), which has lost steam since moving from Monday.

Over at ABC, tired America’s Funniest Home Videos finished a distant third in the overnights with a 4.1/ 7 at 7 p.m. Next was Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (#3: 5.4/ 8), still potent Desperate Housewives (#2: 8.5/12) and Brothers & Sisters (#3: 6.4/10). Growth of 52 percent for Desperate Housewives out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (5.6/ 8) keeps it in the winner’s circle.
