Still watching it at the moment. So I wonder when we find out what caused the zombie flu? Ok so here's a crazy theory, I just wanna get out there. What if The Sheriff is really dead, and this is his afterlife? At the end of the series we'll find out that he's really a zombie too, that the whole show was his zombie delusion.
Well it's about time that a new series WO'ed me this year! There have been a few I truly liked, but none I would be anxiously awaiting every new episode. Well, now , finally, The Wlaking Dead has me eagerly waiting for the next episode! Characers that are multi-dimensional and engrossing, cinemtography that is extremely well executed and still is not too arthouse. Each shot adds to the story and is not just there to be pretty or funny. In fact there is not a lot in the series that is pretty ... maybe funny if you like dark humour. Even the special FX are well done. They would be great FX for a movie, but for TV they are insanely good! The best part is the FX fit into each scene and we do not have scenes just to show off some FX tricks. They also are not "overdone" as to pushing the limit of CGI or FX and basically just showing off. They enhance the secnes not compete in the scenes like so many of today's CGI SFX movies like Avatar. Absolutely moving on an emotional level and on an adrenaline level! Recommend it even to your non-horror genre liking friends... because I am sure the horrorfans already watched and love it!
I have not read the comics... excuse me... (graphic novels as to not offend cmoic-loving types), but usually in these zombie flu movies there is a legit birus that has killed or made everyone undead. I could be wrong easily though as I haven't seen heard any spoilers on purpose so that I could enjoy the ride of all 8 episodes.
Yes! Great character development and story. The scene where the guy wanted to shoot his wife, but couldn't, had me choke up. I haven't done that since LOST and 24. I already wish it was going to go for 9 seasons, but doubt it :( Love it! Wish it were next Sunday already.
The show was awesome! It scared me to death. I found myself checking locks on the doors and hiding my eyes when the horse was attacked. I would like to know how the whole zombie thing got started and I'm really surprised that wasn't addressed. Hopefully it will be in the next episode. I'd like to know how the zombies missed him in the hospital. The angle of his wife and best friend keeps a human touch to the show. Why did his wife take off and leave him in the hospital? Very graphic but I'm already addicted and will watch every Sunday.
Maybe she left if the hospital was declared ground zero for the virus or an undead zone with all dead? I am not sure why the zombies overlooked Rick, but maybe the staff was alive long enough to keep out the undead (seems like somebody definately did due to the 'Dead Inisde DO NOT TOPEN' sign) and then tried to leave themsleves and died, or he just did not show signs of life, motion or make noise so the zombies never took note of him? Also, who knows what happened before the RV survivors found one another. They could have been fleeing for their lives without any chance of going back to get Rick. I am sure more will be answered over the next 7 epsidoes or more if it is picked up for season 2. The comic lasted 7 years I htink I heard... or mayeb its stil longoing? So there is a lot fo story to be told, back story too I imagine!
NOT a horror fan, but loved the pilot to the show. My son talked me into watching and I figured I'd give it a chance since it was an AMC product. Pleasantly surprised skeptic here! Can't wait til next week. Is there an official thread over at the STV forum to discuss this show?
I didn't think of that. I really want to know how this virus or whatever it is spread so quickly and virtually destroyed life as we know it. It's a shame that it's only going to be 6 episodes.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeletePretty much what I was thinking!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any numbers yet? I'm really interested to see how it did.
It didn't disappoint that's for sure. And if you can actually feel sorry for a god damn zombie then something has been done right in the show.

ReplyDeleteLOST.
ReplyDeleteyeah I too think that was the highlight of the episode. I loved how that scene was mixed with Rick shooting the crawling girl with half her body lost.
ReplyDeleteI guess he was really lucky that the military placed a base of operations just outside the hospital, so they kinda defended him unintentionally .
ReplyDeleteFinally something other than F'ing vampires on TV!

If there isn't feel free to create one :)
