Hey everybody, for this week I have a very, very special treat for you guys: in occasion of an episode centered in the character of Luc Laurent, I had the incredible chance to interview Gilles Marini himself! Here it is:
First of all thank you very much for allowing me, a simple blogger and a fan, to interview an actor and a dancer like you: it's a precious and great experience to me, and it's amazing the way you stay in touch with your fans directly like only few celebrities do. So let's go to the questions, Gilles!
Do you think it's possible to keep up with such a brilliant career and private life? How do you balance these two aspects of your life?
I did not intent to become an actor to be famous or becoming a celebrity . I took this job because it is my passion and I am in love with what I do! My wife and kids are the reason why I am somehow balanced and really happy in my life, this industry is pretty hard, not physically but more mentally. And my home is my sanctuary, I have the perfect partner, wife, lover, mom a man could ever dream of. Without her I would not be here doing what I love the most, so Carole, my wife is responsible for so, so much.
As we all know you're a great dancer, and now you're proving that you can also act. What do you enjoy the most? Dancing or acting?
Well before “Dancing With The Stars” I never ever danced in my life so I learnt right there with Cheryl. Acting is more what I am trained, in the end it's art and it all comes together. I love both but most is acting. My first love. I really would like to be in one of those great dance movie film but a good one. Then I guess I will be the happiest man with my job.. Lol.
How is it to work on Brothers & Sisters? You entered the cast at its fourth year, was it easy to "join the big family"?
Yes, it was really nerve racking because I was getting into a cast of an amazing magnitude. Everyone of them is incredible and brilliant. So yes, I was pretty nervous but as soon as I was on set they all made me a family member, and trust me that was the biggest gift. I love to be surround by Rachel Griffiths, Sally Field, Calista, Ron, Matthew, Dave and Luke etc etc. They are making me a better actor and I learn so much and so fast with them. So yes it was somehow easy to get started with B&S. I feel like I have the best job ever.
As a big fan of you and the show, I visit a lot of boards, and some people complain that your character is way too perfect: do you think we’re gonna see the flaws of Luc someday? Next episode (5.08 "The Rhapsody of The Flesh) it's an episode mostly concerned about your characther and your character's mother: can you give us some hint?
My character will take a pretty big turn in ep 508, the audience now will understand more why Luc has been kind of a peace maker and a bit something too perfect. There is reason for everything and his life has been shattered many times around. His mom playing by Sonia Braga will explain that in more details. It's a fantastic show and I can't express enough how much I want everyone to watch...
Allow me to make the question that is killing Brothers & Sisters' fans this year: there have been a lot of speculating about this being the last season of the show. Do you have anything to say about it? And one day (personally I hope, really really far away) when the show will come to an end, how do you see your future? Are you planning on something specific for your career to be?
Look, it's very simple: if people are tuning in and are watching the show ultimately the network will want to keep it. Yes, people have been saying that it may be over soon, but look, the fans of the show have been watching, talking about it and our ratings are great when many New shows are falling. We are here to stay and it's all about the power of the viewers. So thank you. My wish when the show will be over and that will be hopefully in a long time from now, will be to have my own Show. I am ready to show America and the world that everything is possible and that only you can stop you in your dreams. I also will work on different movies in between and always giving my all to the viewers.
Thank you Gilles, you've been so kind to let me make this interview! Thank you for your time and your honesty! We appreciated and we look forward to what’s in store for Brothers & Sisters and for your own career!
Now all of you have to watch Brothers And Sisters next Sunday, didn't Gilles make your mouth water?
