-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS remains the network to beat in the Tuesday overnights, with an advantage over second-place ABC last night of 35 percent. But the home of Glee, Fox, is poised for victory among adults 18-49 (despite the ongoing failure of freshman lead-out sitcoms Raising Hope and Running Wilde). Third overall in the overnights was Fox, followed by NBC and The CW.

CBS’ NCIS stood well above the competition at 8 p.m. in the overnights, with a 12.6 rating/20 share, but Fox’s competing Glee (#2: 8.1/12) has a lock among adults 18-49. Next on CBS was spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (#2: 10.5/16 at 9 p.m.), which trailed ABC’s competing Dancing with the Stars (#1: 12.0/18) by 12 percent, followed by The Good Wife at a dominant 9.3/16 at 10 p.m. Consider this another Tuesday of all “winners” on CBS.

In week two news, ABC’s No Ordinary Family finished third in the overnights, with a 5.9/ 9 at 8 p.m. One week earlier, it kicked-off with a 7.4/11, so this was a loss of 20 percent. But compared to year-ago occupant Shark Tank (3.5/ 6 on Oct. 6, 2009), it was an increase of a hefty 69 percent for No Ordinary Family.

Next on ABC was aforementioned Dancing with the Stars (#1: 12.0/18 – so long, Margaret Cho), followed by week three of Detroit 1-8-7 at a series-low (and distant second-place) 5.7/10 at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention for Detroit 1-8-7 out pf the 9:30 p.m. portion of Dancing with the Stars (12.4/19) was only 46 percent, and the crime-solver dipped by 19 percent at 10:30 p.m. (6.3/10 to 5.1/ 9). Needless to say, ABC could do better Tuesday at 10 p.m. out of blockbuster Dancing with the Stars.

Over at Fox, the stellar 8.1/12 in the overnights for Glee at 8 p.m. was completely wasted on lead-out sitcoms Raising Hope (#4: 4.1/ 6) and Running Wilde (#4: 2.6/ 4) from 9-10 p.m., which were both series lows. Here are the three-week overnight tracks:

One year earlier, the fall 2009 edition of So You Think You Can Dance averaged a 3.3/ 5 on Oct. 6, 2009, but the lead-in support was only a 4.3/ 7 from Hell’s Kitchen. Retention for Raising Hope out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of Glee (8.2/12) was only 50 percent.

Next was NBC care of inspirational The Biggest Loser at a below-average 4.6/ 7 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. One year earlier, it averaged a 4.9/ 8 on Oct. 6, 2009. Here is the half-hour breakdown:

Capping off the evening for NBC was family drama Parenthood at a distant last-place 3.8/ 6 at 10 p.m. One year earlier, failed occupant The Jay Leno Show averaged a 4.4/ 7 in the overnights on Oct. 6, 2009.

The CW closed the night with its struggling combination of One Tree Hill (#5: 1.5/ 2), which should have called it quits by now, and sophomore Life Unexpected (#5: 1.2/ 2), which deserves better lead-in support.
