Desperate Housewives returned for its fifth episode last night 'Let Me Entertain You'.
The episode saw Gabby and Renee reveal secrets to each other including Gabby’s nose job and Renee sleeping with her husband’s divorce lawyer. Of course, this back fired when both of them decided to reveal each other’s secret leading to a fight in a bar. Much to Lynette's disapproval, we also saw Tom bring his mother in to help them with the children and the house.
The episode contained lots of humour, drama and emotional moments. I really feel for Susan and Mike at the minute. The viewers know how much Susan hates what she has to do so when Paul Young caught her in a “private session” my stomach turned for her. I’m still not sure what I think about Paul Young returning. It has definitely added drama and suspense to the show but I feel like we have been there already with it. Hopefully it will grow on me.
I loved the scene when Susan revealed to Lynette what she has had to do to try and get money. Teri Hatcher has portrayed this story line extremely well. She has managed to make the viewers empathise for her rather than be disgusted at her like Lynette’s initial reaction. I just want to jump in the screen and give her a big hug!
The rest of the season also looks like it is going to be a struggle for Lynette and Tom. At the end of the episode, it appeared Tom’s mum was starting to become mentally ill after she forgot who Penny was. This story line has the potential to be very heartbreaking and emotional and I am looking forward to seeing what happens with it.
‘Let Me Entertain You’ certainly did entertain us.
