No, it wasn't, actually; 28 Days came out in 2002 and was in development long before then.
This does look like an interesting tv show; it's definitely on my radar for shows in the fall, especially since the zombie genre is always something that grabs my attention! Should be worth a watch.
As far as I know the Kirkman's graphic novel was written before "28 day later", so if you really want to play this game who stole what, it's rather the other way around. Either way, I do not care, I'm just stoked to finally see this show!
The 1st and 3rd spots are basically useless (promotionally speaking) if you aren't already familiar with the show. AMC needs to do a better job than this if they're going to raise awareness of the show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm not sure, you can easily find "prove" for both version on the internet. Either way, I don't care as long as the series turns out well.

So basically they stole the opening for 28 days later.
