The Entertainment One and Force Four Films police procedural "Shattered" has stumbled out of the gate in Canadian primetime.
The debut episode for the Canuck drama on Global Television on Wednesday night drew only 428,000 total viewers, and a modest 144,000 viewers in the all-important 18-49 demo, according to BBM Canada data.
"Shattered," which drew mixed reviews ahead of its September 1 bow, stars Callum Keith Rennie as a damaged recluse who solves crimes using his multiple-personality disorder.
The character-driven series, shot in Vancouver, also stars Camille Sullivan and Molly Parker.
Another E1 cop drama, ABC's "Rookie Blue," debuted with nearly 2 million total viewers earlier this summer on Global Television.
That series, co-produced with Thump Inc., has already received a second-season order.
A third E1 cop drama, "The Bridge," was dropped by CBS from its summer schedule after three episodes on air.
Global did much better at 8 with nearly two million tuning in to summer reality hit Big Brother. A rerun of NCIS drew 633,000 at 9 p.m.
The competition was not fierce. CTV failed to break a million in prime Wednesday with a two hour Masterchef at 8 followed by rerun of CSI: New York. Dragon's Den (904,000) and The Tudors (475,000) led into stronger than average news numbers Wednesday at CBC (hitting 759,000 at 10 p.m.)
