Cougar Town - Season 2 - Casting News - Ken Jenkins to Guest

3 Sept 2010

Bill Lawrence, aka the mayor of Cougar Town, has said that he wants to start incorporating cast members from his last show, Scrubs, into his current one, and by God, he’s a man of his word: I’ve just learned exclusively that he’s just rehired Ken Jenkins.

The actor formerly known as Dr. Kelso has been tapped to play (and how perfect is this!) the father of Courteney Cox’s Jules. There are no story details yet and no air date, but obviously, it’ll be among the fall episodes. And it’s probably a safe bet that Pops will pass through Town to weigh in on his little girl’s big romance with her neighbor, Grayson (Josh Hopkins).

To me, this is such good news that the only thing that could possibly make it better would be Jenkins’ Homefront missus, Mimi Kennedy (Dharma & Greg), being cast again as his wife. But that’s just me. What are your thoughts? And which Scrubs alum would you like to see Lawrence bring to Town next?

  1. Mimi Kennedy is pretty amazing.
Getting her would be a coup for the show.
Does she do that kind of part?

  2. I agree, especially about Mimi Kennedy. Watching her scenes with James Gandolfini in "In the Loop" reminded me of the way she worked so well with Ken Jenkins in "Homefront."

  3. It's a definite plus to have such a strong character actor on this show. And yes, Mimi Kennedy would be a great addition -- she's the queen of comedy timing, and a perfect foil for Ken Jenkins.

  4. This is so cool :) I love Dr Kelso :) I think he will make a great addition to the cast as a supporting actor in episodes to come.
