Ever wondered what Covert Affairs would be like with Christopher Gorham's Auggie as the main character? Well wonder no more, this week's episode is all about the great Auggie.
The episode starts off with us seeing a Satellite in space and its blinking red, something is wrong. We zoom down to DC and all the communications are offline. DC is back in the stone ages, no internet, television, even the traffic lights are down. Anything run off a network is kaput. At home, Danielle's computer stops working just as she's about to upload pictures for her new catering business (since her husband finally admitted he lost his job.) When Annie comes down and grabs some of the food Danielle was going to use, she makes Annie her food model.
Cut to a woman getting dressed, its Liza Hearns! She makes a comment to someone offscreen that the cable tv is out. And out the bathroom walks Auggie, yes ladies hye's shirtess. Auggie and Liza Hearns are hooking up.
Is Auggie the leak? Liza suggest they have an, ummm, 'quickie'. Auggie calls the DPD and says he's going to be late (always following protocol) but the cell phone is out too. Auggie realizes that this isn't an accident.
At the DPD, he tells Joan there's a Hacker conference being held in DC today, so this communication shutdown can't be a coincidence. Jai has a great line when he tells Annie that the hacker conference is like Comic Con for nerds.
Joan updates the division about the situation and the hacker behind it. Jai immediately starts gloating and tells Auggie that he's going to love this one. Auggie reads the brail version of her file and when he gets to her name, Natasha Petrova. He says out loud that she's his ex-girlfriend.
-Opening Credits-
They decide they're going to try and pay Natasha for the code she used. Even though Auggie thinks its a bad idea all around, Joan sends Auggie and Annie to the hacker conference. As soon as Natasha sees our beloved Auggie she smacks him. Hard. She then realizes that he's blind, but that doesn't change how angry she is. It seems that Auggie ditched her two years ago and she was arrested by the FBI. Old feelings die hard.
At the DPD Auggie sums up the mission as an Epic Fail, but Joan still pushes for Auggie to try and get the code from Natasha. Joan definitely plays on Auggie's feelings to get him to try again. Auggie agrees and he sets up a meeting.
Back home, Annie tries to open up about her 'Smithsonian' (CIA) job to Danielle, and says that her 'co-worker' (read Auggie) is full of surprises. She says sometimes you really don't know people; they could be living double lives. Later, Annie tells Danielle that she wants the pictures of her modeling the food taken off the site, because they're not professional enough. Danielle doesn't like the idea at all.
At Auggie's place getting ready for the conference, Liza Hearns calls and Auggie's phone says her name. Annie flat out asks Auggie if he's the leak. He says no. He's exploiting Liza to find her source; he's trying to stop the leak. Annie says she can't believe he would exploit a woman for intel. Auggie retorts, well what are we trying to do to Natasha?
So at the meeting Auggie and Natasha hash out their past and as they talk Annie and Jai, as backup, listen in. The conversation gets personal, so much so Annie feels uncomfortable hearing Auggie come clean. On the other hand, Jai could care less; he's there to do a job and he's going to do it. Pretty soon Annie makes two guys for FBI agents. She gives Auggie the heads up and as they're about to leave, a jeep comes zooming down the street and almost runs Auggie and Natasha over. When the dust clears Natasha is no where to be found.
At the DPD they use traffic cameras to see who was in the van; its two guys from the Russian mob. Auggie gets more upset because the FBI is after Natasha, now the Russian mob and she's the one caught in the middle with no one to help her.
Auggie heads home and waiting for him is Natasha. She tells him that in college she worked for some Russians, doing simple computer jobs, but now they feel that they own her and want her code.
Cut to the DPD, Auggie is AWOL. He hasn't showed up or called in. Annie and Jai head to his place, but all they find is his cellphone and ID card. Auggie left behind everything that they could use to trace him. He's gone
Cut to Auggie and Natasha on a train; its pretty great the two former lovers on the run from the CIA and the FBI, kind of romantic. Auggie, always thinking a step ahead, avoids the FBI by switching trains. Safe and sound for moment, Auggie and Natasha rekindle the, ummm, passionate part of their relationship. But things go from lovey dubby to violent in the blink of an eye when the guys from the Russian mob storm into the cabin to finish Natasha once and for all. Auggie tells Natasha to turn off the lights to even things a bit. Auggie fights off the two guys in the darkness, shirtless, epic. He throws one of them out the window as the coup de grace.
But they're still not out of the woods. They see that the train is headed toward cop cars and the FBI. Auggie plans a way to jump off the train so they can get away, but Natasha gives him the source code and leaps off the train leaving Auggie hanging on, screaming out her name, not knowing which way she went into the darkness.
At the DPD Auggie comes clean to Joan about his true feelings. He says during the mission he wasn't sure if he was really going to run off with Natasha or if he was just playing her to get the code.
Later, Annie questions Auggie again about Liza Hearns but she says that as long as he knows what he's doing, she doesn't have a problem with it; she trusts him.
Back home, Annie makes it up to her sister for the pictures. She snaps cute pictures of the kids eating cupcakes and other snacks.
As Auggie gets home after the stress of the day, Liza Hearn walks up behind him and hugs him. The look on Auggie's face says that she's the last person he wants to be around right now. So long, Natasha.
