Warehouse 13 - Episode 2.01 - Time Will Tell - Recap

That's it, folks. Warehouse 13 is back with cool artifacts, opening changes (I love shows that go to the trouble of changing the opening each season) and a new awesome character.

The plot continues from the season finale, with McPherson fleeing the warehouse and Artie being consumed by flames. But, as we expected, Artie had a card up his sleeve, or better, a phoenix in his pocket. Since then, Artie traces Claudia, who is heading to CERN and Myka and Pete have three mind-blowing discoveries: 1) Another person was "debronzed" 2) That person is H.G. Wells 3) H.G. Wells is a woman! And who's better to portrait a victorian woman with innovative ideas way beyond her time?Jaime Murray (aka Dexter's Lila Tournay)!

Then, Wells leads Pete and Myka into an antigravity trap and flees with her imperceptor suit; Artie and Claudia get to Joshua at CERN, but McPherson manage to run with a suitcase with antimatter; and everybody returns to the Warehouse: Wells and McPherson to break into the amazing Escher Vault and Pete, Mika, Claudia and Artie to stop them. By the end, Wells kills McPherson and goes M.I.A with her locket and her ring, Mrs Frederic discovers that Leena was being controlled by the "pearl of wisdom" and Claudia gets back to the team warehouse, with the Farnsworth's Farnsworth to make Pete jealous.

The plot is great, but what really makes me thrill about this TV show are the references to movies, books, epic quotes (Boom goes the Dynamite / I could've been a scientist) and alternative versions of history. About H.G. Wells, before label her as the big villain, we should consider her point of view. She has this super creative mind, she writes the most fantastic books and she can't enjoy the prestige? If I had written The Time Machine, The Island of Dr. Moreau, The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man and my brother took all the fame, I would be pretty angry myself. Not to mention that, for unknown reasons (and I bet they'll be unfair ones), she was conscious and immobile for 64 years. Sorry Artie and warehouse people, but my sympathy goes totally to the glorious Miss Wells. And who else is curious to know what was she writing in end of the episode? Would it be a perfect plan to bring down those who trapped her or would it be the most brilliant book ever written? Perhaps both?

I'll only say one thing: Warehouse 13 is the only show that can put H.G. Wells and Pete making out in an non-weird or gay thing.
