Anna Silk in Lost Girl
Actress Anna Silk has appeared in various movie and television roles, including the love interest to the lead on Being Erica and best friend to Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character in The Ghost Whisperer. Silk trades testy for sexy in Lost Girl, a new original Canadian series set to debut on Showcase this fall. In it, she plays Bo, a supernatural fairy who feeds on the sexual energy of mortals. The Post’s Melissa Leong spoke to her about fairies, flying and Fredericton.
Q Tell me about Lost Girl.
A The way that I like to describe it is it’s a supernatural action-drama with lots of comedy. It’s based on fairy folklore. In our show, the fairy world is made up of different clans: the white fae and the dark fae. It’s sort of like two mob families and all of the infighting between them. The show is about how the central characters fit into that world. Bo, who is the character that I play, is such a strong female character and there are so many different sides to her. I hope that she is a good role model for younger women. I hope that they kind of go along this journey with her.
Q When I think of fairies, I think of Tinkerbell.
A People say that: “Oh, can you fly?” But fairies are all different kinds of creatures. When I was a kid, a family friend gave me a book about fairies and some of them are scary looking, very sinister. It’s definitely an interesting world and I haven’t seen anything like it.
Q How sexy is this show?
A It’s pretty sexy but it’s not out-of-context sexy. There are definitely love scenes and moments where she takes it a little too far and kills people. She’s pretty powerful. Sometimes too powerful for her own good.
Q Do you do your own stunts?
A I have an awesome stunt double but I do a lot of my own stuff. I do a lot of fights. There are a lot of really cool fights in almost every episode. I actually train with my stunt double. You just have to learn it on the fly and go for it. It’s really fun but it’s exhausting.
