The “Journey” to Regionals was well earned in The End, for Mr.Schuester, and the Glee kids a.k.a New Directions. The season finale was emotional, and had great moments to cherish. The whole season of Glee was rollercoaster of up and downs. But I’m not here to talk about the whole season in review, I’m here to talk about the Season 1 Finale episode titled “Journey”.
In my recap I’m going to spilt it into 3 parts, The Beginning, The Middle, and The End. I want everyone to get a feel of what happened through out the entire episode. Wish me luck, this is my first post on SpoilerTV, so let’s get started.
The Beginning:
“See you on Saturday, at Regionals. I’m one of the Judges” That’s what Sue Sylvester boldly told Mr. Schue. From that scene I could tell this episode was going to be amazing. And seeing Schue’s eyes pop out, and thinking in his head “WTF” we are screwed big time. But in the end…can’t tell you just yet, you have to keep reading.
An instant Glee moment we see Schue and Sue in a constant smack talk, and Sue always prevailing by commenting on Mr.Schue hair “ Your hair is like a briar patch” which equals total victory. But to counter attack he tells Sue that she was the one who leaked their set list, in sectionals and doesn’t want a bad end result. And one more thing if they don’t place in regionals Glee Club is done. Noooooo.
It was nice to have a flashback, of Quinn and Puck making love in the bed, which was neat to see. Was surprised that Rachel didn’t stand up when everyone was down, when they heard that Sue was one the judges. She was the leader of the team, needed to stand-up when in a time of crisis, but was weak and cried, wasn’t Rachel like.
Yay, a Emma and Schue meeting, after when Emma slapped the hell out of Schue’s face. Emma reminded Schue that what you love, in this journey you will be well rewarded. To bad we didn’t see Emma’s new boyfriend dentist. (Hopefully next season we will see him). Liked when Schue cried, in his car while listening to Don’t stop believing. He knows that he screwed up with Emma, and deeply regrets it. It gives more depth of his character. He knows keeping Glee Club alive is his number #1 priority. Rachel and Finn are back together, hopefully it sticks this time. Now this time Finn, takes role of leader in the Glee Club, and encourages Rachel, that he can’t do this alone.
Great to see past special guest stars back as celebrity judges which where Oliva Newton-John, Josh Groban and Rod Remington. Started laughing when the announcer said Oral Intensity…ahahaha, made my day. Loved the mash-up of Journey. With everyone in harmony, their journey to the Regionals was well worth it, they where proud weather they lost or not. Puck and Santana got screen singing time, hopefully they sing more.
Quinn’s mom showed up, I think it was forced, they should have shown more of Quinn and her parents try to deal with Quinn’s pregnancy the right way, instead of her being forced away from her parents. But I was glad Quinn’s mom showed up, to support her. She better be supportive from now on. When Quinn’s mom said “say something” I was excepting a “NO” response but go “my water broke” response, it was an ice breaker to break the tension between them two.
The Middle:
To start off, is the hospital really close, to the Regional auditorium? I guess it is. It was awesome with the transition of Quinn going to the hospital with everyone and having the baby, while Vocal Adrenaline where singing Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Plus Quinn’s screams and one word shouts where really well incorporated into the song. It was great to see Puck and Mercedes with Quinn while giving birth, and now with the baby Puck loves Quinn way more than before. Rachel interaction with her mom Shelby was great, but also sad that she can’t be with Rachel but wants to start off new. It’s to late now, or is it. One quick note Mr.Schue and Shelby will be would make a great one-two combo, if she went to New Directions.
Glad to see the Sue was sticking up for New Directions, saying that they are “just kids, and don’t have the same opportunities as others”. Just like she stood up for her sister and also the down syndrome cheerio. I felt that there was the real Sue Sylvester coming out, and standing tall. But she got bullied by Newton-John and Groban saying that she wasn’t a “Celebrity”. I felt bad for Sue, to me she is a celebrity, plus I would have to say that it was kick in the butt for her. That she never experienced defeat by bullies, and brought her to her weakest point. Seeing her face of guilt and sadness that New Directions didn’t win was sad, when they didn’t even place, was even a bigger defeat to Mr.Schue and the kids, knowing that all that hard work, and the journey they had to go through wasn’t enough to win. And congrats to Vocal Adrenaline, yea right!!
The End:
Like I said before, Puck loves Quinn even more and he is committed to her more then ever. There relationship is growing strong. Beth?, C’mon Puck and you can come up with a better girl name. Beth has to have meaning, but we will never know. It was great to see Emma stand up to Figgins and Schue that having Glee Club is more important to than wining. And Schue giving Emma the give, is the he is still committed to getting back together with her. Really want it happen.
It was great to see that all Glee Club kids where all flawed and couldn’t let go of their past by telling him this. But with Glee and Mr.Schue helping them, they let go of their fears and became stronger when united as one. When I thought that Glee Club was officially over, Sue came to Schue and told him that she gave Glee another year, so that they can fight it out again, and Sue can win with sarcastic hair jokes. Bring It. Schue knew that deep inside she had a heart and I really like that about Sue, here character has evolved through out the season. Surprised that Shelby is going to adopt Quinn’s baby and naming her Beth, but it wasn’t to much of a shock. Schue singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow” was a great touch to end the show, showing the Glee kids that the journey you take, is going to going to be rough and hard, but all in all it will get better and your dreams will be realized. Sectionals here we come!!!!!
I hoped you liked my Glee Recap of Season 1 Finale titled “Journey”, sorry if I wrote to much, but hey it was worth it. More recaps from me in the future, and let’s already get hyped for Season 2 of Glee.
