Entertainment Weekly has reported that Joshua Jackson is unlikely to return to The Affair for the upcoming fifth and final season. Jackson will next be seen in Ava DuVernay's four-episode limited Netflix series, Central Park Five.
It's noted that Jackson was only contracted to stay for a couple of seasons but because of his interest in his character, Cole Lockhart's storyline, he continued to sign on for additional seasons. The story arcs are still in development and Jackson is involved in discussions as to how to wrap up Cole's narrative. As to who many episodes he'll appear in, that's unknown.
If you missed any of the other news about Ruth Wilson's exit on the Showtime series, she shared this about her departure, "I did want to leave, but I'm not allowed to talk about why". Wilson will next be seen on BBC and HBO's upcoming His Dark Materials adaptation.
