New Featurette - Parallel Lives

When asked to explain why the writers decided against splitting up the mammoth Voyager book into two seasons, Moore said he “put the cards up on the board, and [there were] five episodes right there in the Jamie story and the reunion” with Claire. So it appears the print shop scene is happening in episode 5!

First Look at Jamie and Fergus

EW has obtained another exclusive first look from the start of the season when a bereft Jamie reunites and goes on an adventure with his surrogate son Fergus (played first by Romann Berrux and later by César Domboy).

“He’s not himself for maybe six episodes,” explains Heughan. “He didn’t expect to live. He went into the battle to die. He goes on a big journey from realizing that he’s still alive to finding a balance in staying alive to finding out who he is without Claire.”

But now for the bad news: It’s going to be several episodes before we see the time-traveling nurse reunite with her hunky Highlander. When the lovebirds finally do hook up in a Scottish print shop — a scene fans of Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling novels have been breathlessly awaiting — come prepared with a cold compress.

“For Sam and I and all the writers, we felt that it was so important to make sure we had the tone right,” Balfe tells EW. “Claire’s had time to prepare herself for what this might be and to play various scenarios through her mind. But for Jamie, this person just landed in his life again and there was no warning. So you’ve got two people trying to figure out how to go about this.”

TRUE LOVE IS NEVER LOST. STARZ ANNOUNCES SEASON THREE RETURN OF HIT ORIGINAL SERIES “OUTLANDER” ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH AT 8PM ET/PT

Beverly Hills, Calif. — Starz, in association with Sony Pictures Television, has announced that season three of the Golden Globe®-nominated series “Outlander” will return on Sunday, September 10th at 8PM ET/PT. The third season will include 13 episodes based upon Voyager, the third of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling Outlander series, developed for television by executive producer Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation”). “Outlander” will attend Comic-Con International: San Diego again this summer, offering fans an up close and personal experience with the adored series.

Starz today also released the official season three key art for “Outlander,” which illustrates a distant Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) on opposite sides of the standing stone that once brought them together. The two are set in vastly different eras: Claire in the 1960’s, and Jamie in the 1700’s.

The key art was shot by photographer Jason Bell.

The third season of “Outlander” picks up right after Claire (Caitriona Balfe) travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant with Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) child, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies). Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: When they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?

Diana Gabaldon’s eight-book Outlander series has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide and all the books have graced the New York Times best-sellers list. The “Outlander” series spans the genres of history, science fiction, romance and adventure in one amazing tale. The second season of “Outlander” won the Critics’ Choice Award for Most Bingeworthy Show, and four People’s Choice Awards, including Favorite TV Show.

Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Matthew B. Roberts, Toni Graphia, Anne Kenney and Andy Harries serve as executive producers of “Outlander,” which is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & Supply Company and Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television.

The marathon third season production, filmed across ten months in its home base in Scotland, followed by Cape Town, South Africa, to shoot pivotal sea voyage scenes on the former sets of the STARZ original series “Black Sails.”
