We haven’t seen Rick and the other survivors from Lucille since the traumatizing season premiere, but next Sunday, we’re going to spend a lot of time in Alexandria, following the aftermaths of Negan’s bloody attack on Rick's group. "Service", airing next Sunday on AMC and next Monday on FOX UK, will even run an extra time, 25 minutes longer than usual, so we can explore each character reaction to the big change Negan brought to their lives.
Usually, I’m not a big fan of those extra run time episodes. Most of the time, it felt like they’re only longer to add a commercial break and not really for the stake of the story. But this week, "Service" really needs to last 25 minutes longer and honestly, I don’t even realize it was longer than usual while watching it.
"Service" will be a very dense episode, even though it’ll only take place in Alexandria and its surroundings. There will be a lot of characters featuring in this episode, most of the Alexandrians, and they will all have interesting developments. "Service" will be a vivid and tense episode, and you don’t want to miss any minutes of it.
"Service" will mostly deal with the aftermaths of Negan and Lucille’s arrival in the Alexandrians lives. Everything has changed since now Rick chose to obey Negan and the Saviors. The Alexandria's community is like the Hilltop Community they were first trying to save and free, they have to give to the Saviors what they ask for or Lucille will come for them. Of course, this new situation will create some conflicts and tension inside the walls. Someone will start blaming Rick for what’s happening, after all it was his idea to attack and murder the Saviors first and another character will disobey Rick’s new orders. And obviously, Rick will deal with his guilt over Glenn and Abraham’s deaths.
The confrontation of their different states of mind of each characters is what makes "Service" such a great and captivating episode. The community has known a lot of changes, even Rick's people had known more, but this time, with Negan, it's totally different. At first, I was afraid Negan would be just like another psychopath Rick and Co met, like The Governor or the Terminus people. But Negan is different, he's way worst than anything they had encountered before, that's what make him such a great villain. Negan doesn't want to kill them, he wants to use them and, as he showed last week, his power lies in the psychological torture and domination he uses. And he's coming to Alexandria in this week episode, as shown in the promo, so his evil game will continue.
And here are some other teasers about "Service" :
- Baby Judith is back ! I’m always happy to see her, even for a few moment.
- There will be a head cut in half.
- Michonne has a secret from Rick. But he might suspect something’s up.
- Father Gabriel will introduce himself to the Saviors in a creepy way.
- There will be some very exciting scenes outside of Alexandria, in the woods. Damn, they’re so good now at eliminating walkers, but it’s always fun and disgusting to watch. I miss some terrific walker actions this season.
- A gunfire will be shot within Alexandria’s walls.
- Daryl's bike will be mentioned.
- Rick will make a strong and surprising confession.
- Someone will threaten Negan ! That has not proven to be a good idea so far…
- Eunid will be back, but she won't share a scene with Carl.
- If you have missed Rick with his enormous beard, you’ll be pleased as you’ll get to see it back this Sunday.
- Lucille won't be held only by Negan.
- Daryl will be seen but not heard.
- There will be another intense and thrilling face off between Rick and Negan. Negan always makes powerful speeches.
- Rosita will prove just how resourceful she can be.
- Glenn and Abraham’s names will be mentioned once and that scene will be very powerful and heartbreaking.
- A deer will be a collateral damage.
- Father Gabriel will demonstrate how much of a changed man he is now, since he’s friend with Rick and has found his way. I’m even surprised to like him now.
"Service" is an excellent episode of The Walking Dead. It’s a very rich, emotional and interesting episode. Negan’s arrival totally changed the Alexandrians world, and now he's visiting them in person and they’ll be all reacting differently. Those different feelings, such as anger, disappointment, guilt, fear, regrets, and acceptance, of each characters will be the center of next Sunday episode. That’s why "Service" will be a great and memorable episode of The Walking Dead. This episode is a starting point for the rest of the season, it will put a lot of characters in new directions.
Don’t miss "Service" this Sunday on AMC and next Monday on FOX in the UK.
