Marvel Studios' has revealed the plot synopsis for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, hitting theaters on July 6, 2018. Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña and Academy Award winner Michael Douglas, who all return in their original roles. Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tip "T.I." Harris and David Dastmalchian also return.

Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and The Wasp is directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, with Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Charles Newirth and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

"From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes Ant-Man and The Wasp, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he's confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover SECRETS from the past."

Greer’s returning news comes on the heals of Marvel’s Comic Con presentation where it was announced that Michelle Pfeiffer will be playing Janet Van Dyne and Laurence Fishburne was cast as Dr. Bill Foster.

EXCLUSIVE: Walton Goggins has sealed a deal to join Disney/Marvel’s Ant-Man And The Wasp, the sequel to the superhero pic that stars Paul Rudd. Casting outside returning star Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, as well as the plot, has been mostly kept under typical Marvel-esque wraps, but Goggins has inked and the production is now set to get underway at month’s end in Atlanta.

No info on Goggins’ character, but we’ll likely get more info this week during Marvel’s Hall H presentation at Comic-Con.

Randall Park has come on board Disney-Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp” to portray S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo.

Park joins “Black Mirror” star Hannah John-Kamen, who was cast in a new role. Paul Rudd is returning in the title role with Evangeline Lilly coming back as Hope van Dyne — a.k.a. the Wasp. Michael Douglas and Michael Pena are also expected to reprise their roles from the original.

7th June 2017 - Hannah John-Kamen Joins Cast

In the first major casting in the upcoming sequel to “Ant-Man,” Marvel has tapped Hannah John-Kamen for a new role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”

Paul Rudd is returning in the title role with Evangeline Lilly coming back as Hope van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp. Michael Douglas and Michael Pena are also expected to reprise their roles from the original. Marvel had no comment on the casting.

Peyton Reed, who helmed the first pic, is back in the director’s chair with Rudd and Gabriel Ferrari penning the script. Kevin Feige is producing.

The plot is being kept under wraps, as are details about who John-Kamen will be playing. Marvel had been meeting with actresses over the past month before finally being won over by the rising star.

    Marvel Studios is getting busy with its deal-making.

    Less than two weeks after dating a slew of movies including an Ant-Man sequel for 2018, the studio is in negotiations with Peyton Reed to return as director of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

    Now that Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially reached its conclusion with the release of Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” we have new details on what to expect in Phase 3!

    Following our hero’s debut adventure in this summer’s “Ant-Man,” Scott Lang will return alongside Hope Van Dyne on July 6, 2018 with Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The sequel will mark the first Marvel Studios film named after its heroine.

    Additionally, Ant-Man’s second adventure will lead to a couple of other films shifting their dates, with Marvel’s “Black Panther” moving up to February 16, 2018 and Marvel’s “Captain Marvel” landing on March 8, 2019.

    Finally, three untitled Marvel Studios films will premiere on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020.

    The announcement of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” follows the success of “Ant-Man,” which has earned $178.5M domestically and $231.3M internationally for a global total of $409.8M. It's the #9 film of the year domestically, and opens in its final international market, China, on October 16.

    “Ant-Man” followed one of this year’s biggest blockbusters, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which has earned $458.9M domestically and $946M internationally for a global total of $1,404.9M, making it the #2 film of the year domestically and the #6 film of all time globally.
