After lengthy negotiations, Fox and Warner Bros. TV have completed a deal for a pilot korder to comic book drama Lucifer, from Californication creator/executive producer Tom Kapinos. As part of the deal, joining the project are WBTV-based Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Len Wiseman. Sleepy Hollow co-creator/executive producer Wiseman will direct the Lucifer pilot and executive produce alongside Kapinos, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman. KristieAnne Reed co-executive produces.
Based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, the TV series centers on Lucifer who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.
The logline has FOX undergone an evolution toward a police procedural since the project was originally bought by Fox as a put pilot in September. Back then, there was no police work involved, with Lucifer coming to LA to open an exclusive piano bar called Lux.
