THE VAMPIRE DIARIES’ NINA DOBREV APPEARS IN FLASHBACKS AS TATIA, THE ORIGINAL DOPPELGANGER — In order to show Elijah (Daniel Gillies) that her plan is what’s best for him, Esther forces him to relive a time long ago when he loved a young woman named Tatia (guest star Nina Dobrev). With the help of Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is determined to find Elijah, who has gone missing, but is torn when she discovers that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is also in trouble. Elsewhere, Cami (Leah Pipes) finds herself in a dangerous situation when Mikael (guest star Sebastian Roche) takes her hostage as a way to lure Klaus to him, and Davina (Danielle Campbell) makes an upsetting discovery about Kaleb’s (guest star Daniel Sharman) true identity. Elsewhere, Rafael and Petra (Yael Grobglas) are faced with someone from their past and neither are happy about it. Meanwhile, Rogelio (Jaime Camil) learns about Jane’s impending nuptials and pushes Xo (Andrea Navedo) to let him be part of his daughter’s wedding. Ivonne Coll also stars. The Mist, a dangerous new meta-human with toxic gas powers, they revisit the painful night the particle accelerator exploded and killed Caitlin’s (Danielle Panabaker) fiancé, Ronnie (guest star Robbie Amell). Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse Martin) decides to finally visit Henry (John Wesley Shipp) in jail after all these years, but things take a dangerous turn when Kyle shows up looking to punish Joe for arresting him years ago. Life gets even more complicated for Felicity when her mother, Donna (guest star Charlotte Ross), stops by for a surprise visit. Meanwhile, Ted Grant (guest star JR Ramirez) questions Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) motives, and Thea (Willa Holland) buys an apartment with Malcolm’s (John Barrowman) “estate” money, which infuriates Oliver. NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS — When Clarke (Eliza Taylor) discovers a horrifying project being carried out in Mount Weather’s medical ward, she joins forces with an unlikely ally. After Abby (Paige Turco) confesses to committing a crime, Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) issues an order to have her brutally punished. Meanwhile, Monty (Chris Larkin) warns a distracted Jasper (Devon Bostick) that Clarke could be in trouble, and Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) continues to fight for Lincoln (Ricky Whittle). A RESCUE IN THE NIGHT — When Alaric (Matt Davis) realizes that Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) can’t be compelled, he asks Elena (Nina Dobrev) to do some digging into her background. After learning that Enzo (Michael Malarkey) has been captured by Tripp, Caroline (Candice Accola) teams up with Matt and Stefan (Paul Wesley) to rescue him before Tripp learns their true identities. Armed with some new information about her past, Sarah (guest star Gabrielle Walsh) breaks into Tripp’s (guest star Colin Ferguson) office and is surprised when she finds Matt (Zach Roerig) there, doing some investigating of his own. Meanwhile, Elena is forced to deal with the consequences of her actions, and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) hits rock bottom, lashing out in a destructive way. Lastly, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is determined to take matters into his own hands when he receives some upsetting news. MARY AND CATHERINE GO UNDERCOVER — Upon encountering a mob of angry peasants, Queens Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Catherine (Megan Follows) find themselves concealing their true identities after being forced to abandon their carriage and escape into the woods. Fearful the uprising is a response to his own actions, Francis (Toby Regbo) forms a search party that includes Leith (Jonathan Keltz) and Condé (Sean Teale), only to discover the attack is actually a result of imposters abusing the power of the crown. Meanwhile, Lola (Anna Popplewell) sets out to become financially independent but, in the process, finds herself considering a complicated yet intriguing offer from Lord Narcisse (Craig Parker).
