Episode 7 Review of The Crossing Place

The episode picks up pretty much straight where it left off. Jack has drink again before taking his gun and leaving his house. Over the past couple of episodes he has been drinking a lot, he is probably trying to drown away his sorrows. He heads to a church where he wants to know if reincarnation is possible and also having a second life. He gives us a touching speech of sorts about how his life is ruined, and how his wife killed there child which is all true of course. He is out for vengeance and asks the priest if god will still accept him if he kills people. Before the priest could get a word in, Jack storms off.

Gary is also in a state of depression, after his wife, presumably has moved on with someone else judging by the voicemail on the phone, unless that was Gary's voice on the voicemail machine (I couldn't make it out). He leaves a touching voicemail for his wife about how he was only trying to make it go away, he wanted to make things better for them. Even though everything Gary says we know to be true his wife must think her husband has gone mad. Though she still could have stuck by him "for better or for worse" as they say. Gary is distraught as he knows even if he tries to make things better; he has already lost his family.

Jack goes to pay Todd Crane a visit. He beats him to a pulp, smashing his head against the staircase, and also violently destroying his hand with whatever he used (couldn't tell what it was). As Jack is beating him Todd pleads "I am not a part of it" he says this over and over. Todd tells Jack how he just took their money and that Amy works for Joseph Crainfield. Todd is basically just there a lawyer who is keeping "The Building" hidden and probably of records. I bet the only reason he is a trustee is because Qui Reverti needed someone who could hide what they are truly doing in the building. Jack soon gets arrested and thrown in jail, where we hear something interesting from what at the time seemed like a complete lunatic. The man says after Jack tries to speak to him "I am not talking to you , I'm talking to your son" I didn't think much of it at the time, then soon after he says "Your son said he would wait for you and Amy , but not Rose" I don't understand how this guy could be talking to Jack's son when his child died at a very young age , I think 1. Unless babies now speak... Maybe these ghosts grow up as well.

After being released from the cell Jack informs Detective Ron Blanchard, I thought I would put his whole name there as I don't remember us being told it. He is informing the detective about Qui Revirti , obviously the detective thinks he is nuts until he mentions Marcus Fox. The detective and Marcus have a past; Marcus is one of his cold cases. He actually has a huge file on him, which we see when Madison’s parents speak with him earlier on. We see a chilling video interview of Marcus talking about previous killings.
We learn that Marcus has killed many more people than the 20 in his basement; he has killed others in past lives as he gives enough detail about some of the killings like the one at the opera house as if he was there. Well, he was, he was the murderer. It astonishes me how he hasn't been caught yet. I wonder why they didn't arrest him, instead of letting him go. He must be a convincing liar. I really want Marcus brought down; he is beyond evil, not to mention creepy. Even being inside a 9 year old girl he still manages to creep me out with the way he talks or does things. The detective informs Jack that there were similarities between the girl who died in episode 5 (the one Marcus killed) and previous cases. Jack says "were the hands and knees bound". I believe binding the knees and hands is what Qui Reverti does when they kill someone, unless it’s just Marcus who does it. Later on as Jack is about to be released then the detective gets given a picture of Shepherd by a sketch artist, Jack informs him of how that man killed Anderson. They both are now slowly putting the pieces together and I hope they both work together to take down the group.

Elsewhere Rose is having doubts about Shepherds loyalty and is questioning his motives after Vix is having a hard time returning even though he got triggered. Maybe he doesn't want to return, presumably if has a choice in the matter, he might choose to try and fight it so he doesn't return. I think Shepherd is still on his own side, I don't think he cares for Qui Reverti or anyone; he is just doing what is necessary to stay alive. Rose thinks Shepherd made a mistake when triggering Vix because Shepherd was in love with Amy "I lost 9 years of my life". I really want to find out about Amy and Shepherd and their pasts too see how they met, and what happened to their relationship. Rose is on to Shepherd and says "I think you killed Frank, because he knew the truth and that you brought back Marcus" We later get confirmation that he did in fact bring back Marcus, mainly for his own greed and now he regrets his decision. I would never bring back a serial killer no matter how much money was involved. Shame on you Shepherd!
Towards the end of the episode, Jack goes to find Gary only to find a note addressed to him and Gary's nightstand. Gary is going to commit suicide, hoping to expose Qui Reverti when they find his body. Gary is on the roof of "The Building" about to jump. Below them is Todd Crane, Marcus and Mellow (Todd's daughter) Marcus is holding them at knifepoint as he is insisting on speaking with Rose. I wonder what he wants with her, perhaps he wants to kill her. I doubt it will be a friendly chat. To cut a long story short Mellow gets free, as Marcus slices Todd's leg. He is presumed dead. On the roof Jack is pleading with his friend not to jump and to help him take down Qui Reverti. Gary says they have already lost and the only way to beat them is from the other side so to cross over. Sadly, Gary jumps off the roof. I really liked Gary's character he was the first person to make sense of all this. Now Jack has limited allies and hasn't got anyone to trust now, except maybe for the detective. I would have like to off seen Gary there when they take down Qui Reverti (if they do) who knows, maybe he will be back, and triggered in another body.

Summary
The episode set us up nicely for the season finale, many of our characters are playing on their own team , and I am intrigued to see who comes out on top. It is sad that we lost a main character in the closing minutes. It was a thrilling episode with lots of discoveries and connections made. I really hope this show gets renewed for season 2!
