It was an easy overnight Wednesday victory for CBS with a first-place finish in each half-hour care of “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” (6.2 rating/10 share), “Criminal Minds” (7.6/12) and granddaddy “CSI” (6.9/12), which looks like a safe bet to return in 2014-15. Comparably, CBS bested the No. 2 network, ABC, by 47 percent. But ABC is home to the top-rated series of the night among adults 18-49 (and other key young demos), “Modern Family,” which finished second in the 9 p.m. half-hour in the overnights with a 6.9/11.
Considering there are only four episodes of the season left for this edition of “Survivor” (it concludes on Sunday, Dec. 15 from 8-10 p.m.), seven active contestants and three at Exile Island are quite a bit. Expect a few double eviction installments.
ABC has already canceled sitcom “Back in the Game” (#4: 4.1/ 7 at 8:30 p.m.), which dipped from the Thanksgiving-themed episode of lead-in “The Middle” (#2: 5.8/10 at 8 p.m.) by 29 percent. But equally worthy to face the chopping block is “Super Fun Night,” which slipped to fourth at 9:30 p.m. with a 3.6/ 6. Comparably, retention for “Super Fun Night” out of “Modern Family” was a not-so-super 52 percent.
Sophomore “Nashville” capped off the night for ABC with a second-place 4.0/ 7 at 10 p.m., which was one-tenth of a rating point above the 3.9/ 7 one week earlier.
Over at NBC, the fall season-finales of dramas “Revolution” (4: 3.7/ 6) and veteran “Law & Order: SVU” (#3: 4.5/ 7) were on par with one week earlier. “Revolution” increased from failed year-ago sitcoms “Whitney” (#4: 2.7/ 5) and “Guys With Kids” (#4: 2.5/ 4) by 48 percent, while “SVU” grew by 18 percent from the 3.8/ 6 on the year-ago evening. At 10 p.m., “Dateline” on NBC finished third with a 3.6/ 6.
Elsewhere, fading “The X Factor” on Fox scored a 4.2/ 7 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., which was 14 percent below the 4.9/ 8 one year earlier. And recent entry “The Tomorrow People” on The CW scored a disappointing 1.3/ 2 from 9-10 p.m. (#5), which was 38 percent below reliable lead-in “Arrow” (2.1/ 3 at 8 p.m.).

About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the
Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the
Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
