Fresh off her day of LARPing with the Winchester boys, Felicia Day has booked a third visit to The CW’s Supernatural, it was announced on Tuesday during a press screening.
Whereas Day’s character, überhacker Charlie Bradbury, previously got caught up in Sam and Dean’s battle with Dick Roman, then was stumbled upon by them inside a LARPing community, the third time around she will bring a case to the brothers, during the latter part of Season 8.

Guess the producers loved her two last visits as much as I did ;)
ReplyDeleteHey I'm completely open to Felicia Day returning, but every time she does the writers have another opportunity to kill her in some gruesome way.
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC, now get Misha back..soon.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was quick. Don't know how I feel about this just yet, happy because Felicia day but a little apprehensive that Charlie is bringing the boys a case. Whatever happened to them just opening a newspaper?
ReplyDeleteShe would make a good behind the scenes hunter. Just hope this time she maybe interacts more with Sam, I know the writers tend to fixate on things they've seen before and liked but I really don't need another Dean/Charlie are best buds episode.
ReplyDeleteMisha's having time off with his baby girl, give the guy a break. He'll no doubt be back later in the season.
ReplyDeleteCharlie one of my favorite character of supernatural. Can't wait to see her back.
ReplyDeleteDont they usually release casting spoilers around the time an episode is being filmed. Anyone know what episode they're on now?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind her becoming an on-off recurring character, as long as we get to see her bonding with Dean like they did over porn and battle planning :D
ReplyDeleteyeah, we know... But wouldn't it be great to see Castiel and Charlie interact? Man, that would be one weird conversation. Charlie, queen of references, vs. Castiel who just doesn't get any of them :D
ReplyDeleteI believe it's 8x17, they start on wednesday, at least superwiki says that.
ReplyDeleteOh dear god please don't let it be another meta/funny episode! It's like having to watch Spaceballs when what you really want to see is Star Wars.
ReplyDeleteI like Charlie she is a nice character and would have no problem with her coming back but we cant keep having characters that just bond with Dean.
ReplyDeleteThat would entail recurring characters actually interacting instead of being rotated in and out with no continuity.
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy seeing Charlie and Cas meet. Cas, whenever he does appear again, could use a friend.
THIS is made of WIN!! So awesome! Can't wait to see her back - loved her in "LARP and the Real Girl" and she was one of the very few bright spots of S7. And they better not kill her... I sense the writers room may be less bloody this year... *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteThere's always Amelia...
ReplyDeleteWorks for me! She's a guest I actually love.
ReplyDeleteI still think she and Kevin should team up and become this as a super smart hunter duo....
ReplyDeleteNo there isnt.
ReplyDeleteI am excited about this.
ReplyDeleteI agree ... most of the guest and recurring guest stars have had more interaction with Dean than with Sam. Sam is a geek and Charlie is geek... Charlie isn't just more up to date with porn stars, for Chuck's sake.
ReplyDeleteAnd Amelia doesn't count because "Samelia" was the worst arc the show has ever inflicted on us.
:) In her live video while the episode was playing (the video is archived on Felicia's channel), Felicia said she want a Cass-Charlie episode.
ReplyDeleteI would love it too
have we had a title for that one yet?
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Stranger.
ReplyDeleteI hope she gets her wish.
ReplyDeleterecurring characters don't need to interact with each other, they are just there to facilitate Sam and Dean's story(s).
ReplyDeleteSam seems more like someone who would be closer to Kevin than Charlie. I can see Dean at Comicon, goofing off. I can't see Sam doing that. Not the Sam of recent years.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the story myself but she was created just for Sam. I'm sorry the story was so poorly put together, Jared deserved better.
ReplyDeleteIf they kill Charlie I'm killing the writers X_X
ReplyDeleteI don't think they'll kill her, Felicia has a following, and the character is something different. I think the title might refer more to the plot of the episode, not Charlie herself. I thought it might be about Cas ("Hello Dean" - Naomi might make him forget Dean), if Cas is in this one.
ReplyDeleteWhen this happens you get 3 or 4 different types of shows, with no continuity (no Cas mentions when he's gone; Sam never asking Cas about Benny). I think the best seasons were those with better integration.
ReplyDeleteI essentially agree that Kevin is more similar in personality to Sam but we don't how many more eps (if any- this season, at least) Osric is scheduled for but the question was concerning Felicia's return and the obvious disaparity in guest/recurring guests (not including Benny or Cas) having more screentime with Dean than with Sam. What I meant was Charlie is more than her funny side - that I agree Dean relates to better - there is her "IT/Tech/Hacker" side than Sam should relate to better.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see more of Sam's funny side, I think that's been gone for a long time (I think they decided Sam without a soul was fun, so Sam with a soul would be serious). If not with Charlie, then they could bring back Jody.
ReplyDeleteGood, she was one of the best parts of a rather lackluster Season 8.
ReplyDeleteI'd love for the show to bring back Jody as she was one of the super rare recurring guest stars (besides his solo interactions with Ruby 2 in S4,but Cas's solo interactions with Dean cancelled them out as was intended) that Sam/JP shared more screentime with, but I haven't read anything about "Jody" coming back this season, just DJ (Garth) and FD (Charlie). From the 8.14 Promo pics Sam will share at least some solo screentime with Kevin.
ReplyDeleteSam (with soul) has rarely had funny moments or pursued having fun - Jess's death most have knocked most of whatever sense of "fun" he had going forward, though even in the several episodes regarding his Stanford days Sam appeared to have placed study and getting good grades over "cutting loose" often, which makes Sam a great foil to Dean's more fun-loving personality (in good times, of course). Naturally, the show wouldn't be a dramatic if Sam and Dean were personality clones.
Awesome. At least we know that there will be fun to be had.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, good point. Perhaps I shouldn't be wishing for her to come back. Of course they haven't killed off the guest characters I like least so maybe they are putting a moratorium on recurring character death (minus Martin).
ReplyDeleteThis one came out because they were having a press screening of Wednesday's episode and they were asked about Charlie since that was the most recent episode. I don't think that means she will be in 8.17 or 8.18 although it could.
ReplyDeleteI disagree but this comment was so funny I spit out my water. That's an upvote for snarkiness.
ReplyDeleteWebisode spinoff anyone? That could be awesome.
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!
ReplyDeleteyay!!! I love charlie.
ReplyDeleteI heard she's going to come up with a way to slow down the Leviathans' operation.
ReplyDeleteSHE IS EPIC.I am so happy with this !!!! :D:D I love her and the boys seem to have fun around her
ReplyDeleteMore Felicia Day is definitely cool! Now, let's get Kim Rhodes into the episode, too: Charlie AND Sheriff Mills!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe gets at one of the reasons I haven't liked the past couple of seasons much. Charlie needs to be more than goofy to interest me.
ReplyDeleteNerdy caricatures, fart jokes, and porn jokes don't entertain me. Sam and Charlie have a lot in common, but not the things the show seems to value right now.
Sam will always be more serious than Dean, although I don't think he needs to be quite as serious as they've been writing him the past couple of years. But Sam doesn't need to be goofy to be interesting.
ReplyDeleteTV is full of straight, serious characters whom fans have loved: Olivia Dunham, Jack Shephard, Don Draper, Rick Grimes, Dana Scully, Nikita and Michael, Alicia Florrick. The writers just need to show some interest in writing for the character.
Not even gonna say anything. I'll be strung up.
ReplyDeleteOh go for it. I'll cut the rope.
ReplyDeleteI can feel your pain about Meta and larping. I do have some comedy episodes I like though. Just haven't had any for a while. I think maybe even as long ago as Changing Channels.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't dislike the characte per se, I'm not interested in seeing more of her on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteI get the feeling the writers like her, as they do all guest stars in general, to cover their sub-par scripts by putting them up front and so getting out of having to think up decent continuity-correct stories for the brothers.
I'm really tired of 'more guest stars, less brothers.'
The guest star I really liked and who doesn't seem to be 'campy' enough to be brought back is Jody Mills. She was serious but with the ability to throw in snarky comedy moments which reflect exactly how I would like the show to be again.
Serious horror with snarky lines, not slapstick geeky stuff!
Yeah.
ReplyDeletePoor Sam and Dean. They've been hunting all their lives but now they've obviously got to the stage where they need the guest stars to find, assess and solve a case for them because after all they've been through they've lost their cutting edge.
X
Poor souls! What would they do without ouside help!! Sheesh!
^This. Bring back Jody Mills!
ReplyDeleteThanks:)
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! I'M SO VERY EXCITED!!!!
ReplyDelete"TV is full of straight, serious characters fans have loved: Olivia Dunham, Jack Shephard, Don Draper, Rick Grimes, Dana Scully, Nikita and Michael, Alicia Florrick. The writers just need to show some interest in writing for the character"
ReplyDeleteI so agree with this. Regrettably all the female (solo) writers are gone from the show, and Sera, Cathryn, Raelle and Julie Siege wrote most of the episodes with Sam insight - even EvilSam of BUABS. They all wrote a very multi-dimensional Sam who was a great mixture of his natural introspective traits with small dashes of the "self-absorbedness" that most younger siblings have. Carver (and EK when he wanted to) write/wrote the best "3 dimensional but not overly morose Sam" but Carver has only written one episode this season.
Of the remaining male writers - IMO - Adam Glass writes the "weakest characterized, 2 - dimensional Sam"; as you observed in another post (and IA with totally) the "Sam" in 8.12 was written no better than "Sam" in Glass's AIB. In 8.12 Glass gave Sam limited and superficial interactions with major guest Henry W. Sam was very ineffectual in the rest of the episode beyond DEAN's handing him the laptop in the comic book store so Sam could use the "search engine , a task anyone with minimal computing skills could do - hardly a exhibition of Sam's so called superior "geek skills" - while Dean got all the action and all the solo bitching/bonding time with Henry. Glass wasted the small solo window he gave Sam and Henry where Sam/Henry could have shared 15-30 seconds of dialog rather than having Sam just pause (speechless), turn and follow Dean out the door. (Like Sam waiting at the car while Dean and Krissy were fist-bumping at the end of AIB).
(BTW, this is not Sam vs Dean stuff but only a comment on how Glass writes both characters)
Exactly!
