Ten days ago, it was announced that Keri Russell (Felicity, Running Wilde) would be the female lead of The Americans, and now Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) signed to star alongside her in this exciting FX pilot from Joe Weisberg (whose only writing credits include episode 4.04 of Damages and two episodes of Falling Skies) executive produced by Graham Yost (creator of Boomtown, Raines and Justified who also wrote an episode of Falling Skies).
Rhys will play Phillip, a KGB operative posing as an american living in the Washington, DC suburbs with his "wife" Elisabeth (Keri Russell) and their two children (who don't know anything about their parents' true identity).
Furthermore, Noah Emmerich (White Collar, The Walking Dead) will play Stan, one of Phillip and Elisabeth's neighbour. Emmerich also co-starred in films such as Miracle, Pride & Glory and Warrior. What do these films have in common ? All three of them were directed by Gavin O'Connor, who will produce and direct the pilot of The Americans.
