Homeland doesn't premiere until 3 more weeks but the pilot managed to get online !
This is an old tradition for Showtime series : if I recall right, episode 1.01 of Californication, episodes 3.01, 4.01, 5.01 of Weeds, episodes 2.01/2.02, 3.01 and 4.01 of Dexter were all available days, even weeks before the official premiere, and I'm sure I've forgotten a lot. More recently, episodes 1.01/1.02 of Episodes were available the day after Christmas.
The first episode of Homeland is out, which means we can keep an eye out for episode 6.01 of Dexter, it might get leaked as well. Well, we can't watch it of course, because it is illegal. I'm just innocently reporting the news.
Both Dexter and Homeland premiere on Sunday, October 2 on Showtime.
Homeland is a very exciting new drama from 24 showrunner Howard Gordon and 24 writer Alex Gansa. Chip Johanessen (24) is also a writer on the show, while Sean Callery (24) will be composing the score of the season and Brad Turner (24) & Michael Klick (24) will each direct a few of the 12 episodes. This thriller will deal with terrorism and paranoia. Somehow, all this makes me think of a show but I can't put my finger on it. Homeland stars Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Mandy Patinkin, David Harewood and Morena Bacarrin.
This is the fourth pre-air pilot released on the Internet, a week after the Itunes release of FOX's New Girl (premieres on September 20) and the Kindle release of ABC's Revenge (premieres on September 21). The pre-air pilot of The Secret Circle (which premieres in only 3 days on the CW) was just released on Itunes a few hours ago.
EDIT : A friend of mine started to watch the pilot and the audio quality is good, the image quality in itself is pretty good too (it's 720p, a 1.25 Go file for a 56-minute episode) but the framerate is lower than a regular release : it constantly looks a little twitchy, it can be quite annoying to look at, even if Claire Danes is on the screen. It's not unwatchable but if you prefer a smooth flow of 30 frames/second, I suggest you wait 19 days.
