Update: 21st Feb We've added some more features. They are appended to the end of this list.
Earlier today we posted a simple feedback form to gather some ideas from you all (If you've not yet filled out the form, please still do, we're still wanting as much feedback as possible.
We've already had over 500+ people supply feedback and we noticed a lot of recurring themes. We we're going to wait to get all the feedback before starting any changes but the demand for some of these features was so great and were things we could do fairly quickly.
We'll still be implementing more of your changes over the next few days but for now here is what has changed.
1) Mobile Domain Added
We've added a new domain to SpoilerTV called m.spoilertv.com that can be used on your Android, iPhone and iPads. You can read more about it here.
2) Popular Posts
We have removed the Popular Posts Feature that appeared under the "Welcome Box". This is now on it's own page here. You can access this via the Features and Info Menu at the top. This should help the site load a little quicker.
3) Reactions Removed
The comments system that we use here also has a feature to list any Tweets etc that relate to the post. However it seems that 99% of this is just noise and from your feedback, not needed. This has been removed which in turn should make the comments load a little quicker.
4) Duplicate Postings
As we have grown from 2-3 people posting on the site at the start to over 90 people Today, we have started to see a few duplicate posts cropping up. As you can imagine we're never going to be able to ensure that we never post a duplicate post/story again but we are trying our best to work with the team to ensure we keep this to a minimum. Remember we're human after all :)
5) Search
We've been working with the very helpful Lijit team to improve the search results. The results should now be a lot more relevant. eg Searching for "Gossip Girl" will return a lot more recent posts on the front page. Please let us know in the comments if you have any other suggestions how we can improve the search.
We've also remove the branding and the popular searches to reduce loading time of the sidebar.
6) Removed some old buttons
We've removed the MySpace and Digg buttons as they are no longer used from the Welcome Box.
7) Google Account to Comments
You can now use your Google Account to log onto the comments system, although we still recommend that you get a free Disqus account.
If you want to use your Google Account/Gmail use this as your OpenID
http://openid-provider.appspot.com/myemail@gmail.com
(obviously change the myemail@googlemail.com part to your actual address)
8) Copy Text from SpoilerTV
When you used to copy text from SpoilerTV and paste it into your site, it would leave a large amount of extra text. This text has been shortened and reduced to make it easier to post on other sites.
9) Welcome Box
We've reduced the size of the Welcome Box to make is smaller and we've move the Submit a Scoop button to the Sidebar. This will help getting to the main part of the content quicker. Also remove you can customise the site to not show the Welcome Box at all.
The Submit a Scoop button has been moved to the top of the sidebar.
10) Menu Update
We've updated the top menu to organize some stuff better. Previously we had a Menu link called "Features and Info". This has been split into 2 Menu items "Features" and "Help".
We've also added some new items to these menus so please check them out.
11) New Primetime Listings Page
We've also now added a new feature that shows the current days Primetime Listings for all the major USA Shows. This can be accessed via the Program Listings in the Features Menu at the top. Please leave us any bugs/comments feedback in the comments here.
12) RSS Feeds Moved
The list of RSS Feed that was in the sidebar has now been moved. You can access it here directly or via the "Twitter and RSS Feeds" option in the Help Menu at the top.
13) Content Popups
We've launched a large feature here which has a whole post dedicated to the change. Please read it here.
14) Instant Individual Show Notifications
Our very own TheSpoilerGirl has put together this great guide/tutorial about how to quickly get email notifications of the shows you want. Click here to see the Guide.
15) Site header - Home
You can now click on the Site banner to take you to the homepage.
16) Theme Changer
We've now added the ability for you to change some of the basic colors here at SpoilerTV. See this post for details.
More changes coming soon, so please keep an eye on this thread.
Things People had forgotten/were not aware of
A lot of people were making feature suggestions about things we already have
1) Forum
Yes, we already have a forum of over 15,000 members. You can access it from the Forum Link in the menu or directly here.
2) Remove Welcome Page
We've had this feature for a while in which you can customise which parts of the site you would like to show/hide. Again this can be found on the Features and Info menu or directly here.
3) Adverts
I'm afraid the Ads are a necessary evil on the site and help us pay our bills and to provide prizes for giveaways. You can rest assured though that we'll never feature popup/popunder or other nasty ads like that. No Ads = No SpoilerTV (Unless someone wants to make a very large donation ;) )
4) Individual Show RSS and Twitter Feeds
We already have a large number of Show specific RSS and Twitter accounts here. If you don't see a RSS Feed for a show that you want simply email me at darkufo@spoilertv.com and we'll get it created
5) Email Notifications on replies
A number of people have been giving us feedback on how to get comment replies when someone replies to their comments. This is done from within your Disqus profile. You will need to have a free Disqus account for this to work.
You can then set other options like avatar, bio, etc.
So please continue to provide feedback via the form, and we'll do our best to implement any popular features/request where possible both time wise and technology wise.
